Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

~$800 Road / Hybrid with Dropbar + Disc Brake?

Hi.
I am new and looking for a bike to commute and occasionally out on the road.
My budget is around $700~800 and looking for road/hybrid bike with Dropbar + Disc Break or frame/fork that is compatible to install them
Any recommendation is appreciated
Thank you!

Sounds like you want a cyclocross. You might want to cross-post in the Commuting forum; they might have good suggestions for a bike in your price range. Trek makes some nice cyclocross bikes, but they're a bit pricey, especially for the models with disc brakes.

Yeah, what you're looking for is a cyclocross bike. Bikesdirect has some in that price range, but he disc brake requirement puts you over.

You might look at the Raleigh line, alot of their road and commuter and cyclocross bikes have disc brakes now. The RXC disc, the Roper disc, the Cadent disc might be what you're looking for, or the Detour disc. And no, I don't work for Raleigh

No such thing as a hybrid with dropbars ...

Plenty of disc barke hybrids, and plenty of cx bikes with disc brakes ... and now road bikes with disc.

While, most hybrids are road bikes with mtb/flat bars... and now, there are mtb's with drop bars...

I have never heard a gravel/adventure bike, refered to as a hybrid.

... and, I doubt thats what the OP is looking for.

BTW, I love my Jamis Coda Elite... its perfect for all the *slower* social type rides, like : the ride of silence, the taco truck ride, tour de doughnut, even a gravel rouser or two ...
