2014 Novara Randonee
Just finished my first short ride on my new Randonee beyond the test ride I did at REI. Granted it was only 7 miles, but this thing rode better than I could have imagined it would. I haven't ridden on the road in over 20 years, so I was a little nervous, but this bike handled wonderfully. Responsive, stable, comfortable... The saddle was even perfect. I was expecting to have to put a Brooks on it and I still may once I get more mileage under my belt, but for now I'm extremely pleased with everything just the way it is.

I just picked one of these up a couple weeks ago (yay, REI 20% off coupon!). Because of bad weather and excessive business travel, I've only managed to get one short 15-mile ride in (besides the test drive behind the REI store) but I was very happy with how the bike felt. I did swap out the stock saddle (felt like a steel wedge) for a Selle Anatomica from another bike, added a spare set of Candy pedals, and off I went. The ride was very comfortable. I was looking for a touring-capable bike that I could easily ride long distances without feeling beat up, and I think this may be it. The bar-end shifters do take some getting used to after STIs, though...

I have been touring on a Randonee since 2008. It's a great bike.

I just purchased a randonee for my daily commute, I REALLY like this bike. Like the OP the seat looked like a no go, but it is actually very comfortable.

I have a 2013 Randonee that is great. I swapped out the stock saddle as well for a Fizik. Very comfortable for a tall rider (XL frame). we should post some pics of our randonees in the thread!

Go into a store and talk with them. They send out e-mail and written catalogue notices by s-mail. Have you moved and or changed your e-mail since you signed up? Maybe they just need an update.

They also post all over the website about it. I think they have them two or three times a year, and you can get %20 off one full price item and %20 off one outlet item.

To date I know 3 people with these. Each has changed something on the bike. The seat, the tape brake pads but everyone of them love the bike. For the money you can't beat the bike. At 20% off it's an even better deal. REI is really a coop that tries to listen to their membership. Hell you can return anything if your a member. They don't carry everything but they do ok in the spring. Staff at my local REI tell me they sell every Novara Rando they get.
