Is there such a thing as good cheap bib shorts?
Hi guys,
I know it's probably a unicorn, but does anyone produce good quality bib shorts under $100? I've recently started to use bike trainers in my local gym, but don't want to wear my rather fancy and expensive Castelli bibs there. Need something inexpensive and plain looking with a decent pad that will let me stay in those soft saddles for a couple of hours... Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I love my bibs from Performance Bike, they have 2-3 price points, and even their most expensive can be had for about $65-75 on sale.

I have bought Zimco off of Ebay and I think they are quite adequate. $30.00 for shorts, $40 for bibs.

my chinese knock offs were $40 with free shipping for bib shorts and jersey. I have no complaints. The first pair I got were cheaper and lasted a year riding a couple of days a week. This set is higher quality and has rubber on the sleeves, legs and bottom of jersey to keep everything in place. I'm sure I'll have to spend $40 every year for a new set as opposed to buying a set for $200 that will last a few years but that's fine

Nashbar does sales on these all the time, I have gotten them at 20% off on two occasions. I have bibs that cost almost twice as much as these but I still prefer these.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
A while back I bought a 50 dollar pair of Castelli bibs that were great. I kind of liked the slightly thinner pad, but they did fall apart pretty quickly. Now I wear Assos, so I don't have any cheap options, but they will last 3-5 years with decent care.

aerotech makes solid bibs for about 70 bucks including shipping, and makes em for big and tall too. And that's normal price.

I've been happy with PI Elite Inrcool and Performance Ultra. I'd give the edge to the Performance Ultra (and they're cheaper!).

Nashbar has a sale on LG Pro Feel 2 bibs at $50 and Performance has a sale on last year's Castelly Velocissimo at $80 - will go with either one of these two options....

I've got the same pair, and I'm not so hot on them. The chamois is shaped wierdly for my body, and after about 80 miles, starts to hurt (feels like it's cutting/digging in?) Also, the bottoms where the grippers exist are loosening up and not...gripping. But, for $29, I wasn't asking for the world. They were my first pair of bibs, and I wanted to see if I even would like them.

I have the pro feel 2 and I like them. I got them on sale at Nashbar. Some will not look at them twice because they are $50 bibs but they work well. I wouldn't go for them if I were doing a century, but they work well on my 25-30 mile training rides.

This logic is completely sound, but it's still a little bit of a bummer. I do 30-60 mile club rides throughout the week, but I also do brevets solo centuries maybe once or twice a month, depending when it is in the summer. I'm not too happy knowing that my bibs will hurt when I need them most (back half of a longer ride.)

Another vote for performance ultras, especially when they have the 20% off weekends.

I have been using this PI Quest bib for training rides. I was surprised with the quality and feel.
