+1 this technique allowes me to rige in 12" of dry powder on an hardtail mtb with studs, I do unclip from my pedals though :D and it sure is faster than walking in that stuff

I find myself chuckling out loud in my balaclava sometimes as well when I see cagers and peds roughing it out there during rush hour in -20 temps as I pleasantly coast on by on my studs.

I have a Mount & Ground up front and it is an amazing tire in icy ruts, I have 2 of them and found I only needed it up front. Sometimes I loose traction in the back and fishtail but you get use to it...

I run th Mount&Ground Nokkian just in the front, it will get you trough icy ruts and stuff, I leave the rear regular for some fishtailing fun.
