I am using an Allvit RD on my '62 Jack Taylor. With the extra-long levers and a Suntour freewheel the shifting is slow but very solid, like changing gears on a truck.

It's not a rare size, even for Italian bikes. My 1967 Atala Record (Columbus SL) is 26.8. My 78 Windsor Super Carrera is also 26.8.
