Ride completed. No problem other than drenched with non-functional sweat because hot/humid. Current Dew Point is 73, that’s moist! Luckily it was not too hot and most of route was shaded.

I vote for standard Shimano. You will do fine even with the 105 level but if you get a good price for DA level, why not? I split the difference and run Ultegra on my bikes.

I like it but it seems they are focusing too much on crashes. We know they happen. The emphasis might attract non-cyclists but I find it unsettling, not entertaining.
