Success!! I removed the inner part of the freewheel with a large set of vise gripes and a hammer.
Now awaiting the single speed freewhell to continue with my project.

EDIT: I got the lockring off. The inner hub part is being difficult. Going to take to work and I'm sure I'll get it off...
