Theres tons of places to ride out there. Depending on where you start Carmel or Monterey, go ride through Pebble beach in the early morning to avoid tour buses and tourists not looking at the road....

I think I can only comment on the cycling aspect of the area as I live nearby cross the bridge. Martinez is pretty centralized area from cycling from great riding in the east bay in the Briones area...

I use a small bag that I put in my jersey pocket that carries 1 tube, 3 co2 cart., co2 pump, patch kit with lever, and a multitool. It's not too bulky.

Looking forward to the start in Sac and Folsom TT. Its awesome they use Diablo again for a stage finish. I do miss the Santa Rosa start or finish.
