Oh yay. Let's play, "Let's speculate about a BB we've never seen and ignore the written instructions." hmm...

I'm quite certain that I've gotten everything I'm going to from this thread. I'm out.

Kontact,

Please don't assume that I "didn't think it mattered". I aligned them when I installed it, and they were still aligned when the issue manifested. I'm simply pointing out that, while there...

Kontact,

You certainly don't want the two halves being completely (180 degrees) different. You couldn't slide the spindle through in this state. But if the two halves are a couple degrees...

FBin NY,

Indeed, to do this at one spot in the rotation would require wearing in the _race_, not the balls. I can't even imagine. But neither side of the BB moved when I jiggled the cranks.

Hi oldbobcat,

Thanks for the reply. Once again, yes, "the other one wiggles." The bottom bracket does Not wiggle. The cranks wiggle only when vertical.

Is it toast?

Loose crank axle

I have a GRX FC-RX600 going through a First Components P237SA eccentric bottom bracket. After maybe a year of use, the crank axel is a little loose. I noticed when I was pedaling that, at a certain...

Another vote for the Take-a-look mirror. I put mine on my sunglasses. They may look flimsy but that metal is tough, it is trivial to put the mirror where you want it and it *stays* there.

rim brakes?

I guess another manufacturer has fallen to inexorable tide that is disc brakes. I guess I should have picked up that CF SL 8 when I had the chance.

Looking for 24mm single chainring cranksets

I finally got tired of the chain drooping on my Nexus 11 vertical drop-outs conversion. I bought an eccentric bottom bracket for it. (Well, I also bought a chain tensioner, but I think the EBB will...

"you have certainly not proved it"

I didn't claim that I did, troll.

A dragging clutch, particularly soaked in grease, would...

7-11 - Comparing different Nexus IGHs

I have 3 bikes with Shimano IGHs: a 3 speed in an Italian road bike, a 7 speed in a steel commuter and an 11 speed in a carbon racing bike. This post is to describe how the latter 2 compare in...

ah, the SC4. Looks light. I'm curious how much.

It looks like Marin had quite a few IGHs a few years ago, but now it's just a few Presidio and Muir Woods. e.g. 2020 even had a Nexus 11 on the...

Hi Koala!

My purchase of the 7 speed belt drive was to that same purpose, but alas, it was too heavy to enjoy up the hill to my house. Still looking for a light IGH frame!

It goes to 11

I wasn't sure where to post this. Not exactly vintage, touring or commuting, but IGHs seem to overlap there.

I forget if I posted much about it, but I first converted a carbon fiber road bike to...

The trick to ID'ing plates is to take the frames of the video and "stack" them. The letters will emerge as the data piles up along their shapes. It is probably only something an OpenCV hobbyist would...

Clyde, I think you're right. I must have misremembered how the brakes on my motorcycles worked. There appear to be some newer bikes where the brake lever operates the ABS on both wheels, but that is...

Hydraulic disc brake q

I'm not trying to start another rim vs disc brake thread. I'm genuinely curious about something.

On my car and motorcycle, the brake pedal or lever activates 2 or 4 wheels at a time. I guess this...

Auto-record is, when you apply power to the device, it immediately starts recording. Both of my current dashcams work this way. My GoPro doesn't even turn on; it just begins charging.

I'm not sure what "driving mode" is. It appears that some cameras e.g. GoPros support looping but don't support auto-record.

Best 2 camera dashcam

I was surprised not to see a sticky in this category for recommended dashcams. Maybe they change too often.

I was considering the Sykik CR1 - 2" screen, which doubles as rear view mirror,...

Shimano 6503 -> R3030 conversion BB

I'm still trying to restore an old Trek 5200. I'm trying to preserve the triple FD by switching from old Ultegra to new Sora. You can read about my earlier woes here:

To close the loop here, what I ended up doing was completely unpredictable. Since the pull ratio of the new lever was higher than the old, I essentially lengthened the lever arm on the derailleur. I...

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't find any, but I did run into a Microshift R539. It looks like a perfect match, but I don't know the pull ratio. Does anyone know, or have a compatibility chart?

Compatible shifter and FD for Ultegra 6503 ? (another flatbar conversion)

I've had a 2001 Trek 5200 since new, and love it to death. I love how light it is, and its triple chainring set-up. I've probably put 25,000 miles on the 20 years that I've had it.

Once, the right...
