Can't tell you how many times I fell off, went over the handlebars etc as a kid isn the 60s and 70s on Long Island - and never hit my head....

actually i was already all the way down in 1st...

actually i was already all the way down in 1st and almost to the top of the hill when the chain came off. I didn't realize it was broken until later then it caught in the derailleur!
