Actually the saddle on the Elswick is a Brooks b66s, old style, no laces. Which was pretty dear, more than the rest of the bike.

I have seen that, but I like the 40 hole, 4 cross layout and I am pretty sure I can get rims.

actually the 40/32 system is about ideal for most practical bikes.

My prewar roadsters have clamps for the cable pulleys, but it seems like it should have a frame mounted shifter. I am not sure when they started with the handle bar trigger.
