I didn't take that from the OP at all. He simply wishes to continue riding with his wife and the purchase of an e-bike for her allows them to continue doing something they enjoy together.

I can damn sure say I do not want an E-Bike. But I will also admit when the time comes if that is what I have to do to keep enjoying riding, I'll get an E-Bike.
