Well for what it is worth. I have a French Vintage 1970 10 speed with Berg-Union spokes and Brass Nipples with "S S" stamped on them. The nipples are nickel plated brass.

Seems similar to mine, other than the full chain case and saddle. Best I can tell mine is a 1951 model year. Look for a serial number on the left side of the seat lug.
