Possible it was something as simple as the tube was installed slightly twisted, got a normal flat via the tyre. Then as it deflated the tube twisted back causing it to look like a rim caused...

This is one to paint yes. I did consider touch ups but to be honest it's been neglected and outside in the UK winter so it's got quite a lot of Ali oxide. And the paint is far from great.

Yeah it's wierd(to me). According to Web the atx 860 was94-98 then 2000, but surely we wasn't using hydraulic brakes 25 years ago?
