It sounds like you’re describing the Quadra 21r which was very close to the Quadra 10. I also have that fork. Came stock on my ‘96 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo. Might be needing to rebuild those soon....

I have that same fork from way back in the day. Rebuilt mine about ten or fifteen years ago with an aftermarket kit which swapped out a bunch of stuff. It’s possible something like that happened...
