Thanks for that. Realised my new bike also have Tektro (somehow I was under the impression it had Shimano). Oh well, it will be for the next bike if I manage to seriously get into cycling.

Mate, lock wasn't the problem. The bike was secured to a bolted down metal stand with a £70 Kryptonite yellow U lock, with the front wheel locked to my wife's front wheel with another small U lock....
