Oh rest assured I was not suggesting to make the hole bigger! I was suggesting a much bigger drill to simply deburr the exisiting hole...

My valve has never looked that crooked from my recollection, but maybe it gets worse with loss of tyre pressure (ie the tube slips around as suggested), I need to be more vigilant on tyre pressure...

start the damage off during pumping? But I have had weeks...

The wheel is less than a year old as is the bike, a Carbo X...

slight tear at Schrader valve base

Hi,
I have a slight tube tear on the base of the my valve, this is the second time this has happened, now on a new tube, any ideas why it's failing there?

Any manouveres that could cause it?

Excellent point, maybe it was dust/dirt lodged now cleared when I re-pumped, but I have always had a dust cap fitted!

For the other query it's a 20 inch Schwalbe tyre, but cannot remember what...

Surely unlikely...but will check when I finally do need to remove the tyre - as of Sunday at 10.30, the tyre is still well inflated with no discernable loss of pressure - the mystery deepens.

Really but its been 24 hours now and its still well pumped up, it was a new inner tube too, less than 2 weeks old.

Mystery puncture

I have a strange puncture I can pump up my rear tyre real hard after it's gone real flat and it will stay inflated all day sitting there. I can even go out on it, return and then in about another day...
