When my dad was about my age he put a biker chain on his wallet, and all us kids gave him a hard time about it. I have had a biker chain on my wallet for the past couple years and it has saved me countless times. If I were to lose my green card, it could be disastrous.

I did a trial pump this morning and found that with 100 strokes from my HPX3, I can get the mtb tyre up to 30#. I still don’t have a spare tube, but I do have a patch kit, should the need arise. Tomorrow morning it is. Or this afternoon 100 for the high. Not terrible.

I hope it’s not painful. We have been putting a lot of funds into T bills so interest income this year is relatively high. Gotta write a big check in a week.

We had a good ride today. Usually we do our longer/harder ride on Saturday and easy/shorter on Sunday, but the gang wanted to flip it as yesterday was windy. We had a good group of 9 and everyone shared the work pretty evenly. We stayed together except for a couple times up the longer climbs, and even then the gap was small and a rolling regroup happened quickly. It was a bit harder effort than I was looking for this early in the season, but I cannot complain as it was just about perfect.

During my walk this afternoon I met a couple from Norway who were riding to the Black Hills to visit family.

Not long after, I I watched a black cormorant repeatedly dive and come up with small fish.

I earned a lot more interest on my general savings this year. Fortunately, the vast majority of my savings is in qualified accounts, so the appreciation is tax-deferred. I start my pension next month. One nice thing about living in PA is that the state doesn’t tax pension payments (nor Railroad Retirement). I’m having federal taxes withheld from the pension payments so I don’t get an expensive surprise next year.

3.5 hr MTB ride today, glorious outside. ~45 min road transfer to/from an open space (Black Mtn) to ride with some buddies. Black Mountain is hard man ridin', only up/down chunky and techy trails, no flat really.

Unfortunately, I didn’t encounter any roadies on either road leg. I felt good today so I probably would have cat 6’d ‘em. Solid ride!

Yeah; our deadline up here is April 30. I'll be sending CRA a nice lump, but at least I've made interest on that amount through the year. CRA tries to persuade me I should pay "quarterly instalments" in advance. Nope.

Re. cycling: "climbing wheels" wouldn't affect the 'funner' quotient in my case. 'More funner'? 'More funnerer'? I could give a heavily-laboured but linguistically-informed explanation as to why 'funner' is not on ('more fun'/'less fun' is idiomatic) but I can't be arsed.

Aside from winning the NCAA Women's basketball championship, South Carolina won 38 games in a row for the season. 38 games and nobody could find a way to beat them. That's an amazing accomplishment, making the championship anticlimactic IMO.

Another bright, windy day. Yesterday afternoon, after riding in that for 2+ hours, I took one of those naps where you fall off the world for two hours, and despite the deep sleep, still take most of half an hour to come back to full consciousness. I could tell I needed a nap because I was falling asleep sitting up. And after 3 1/2 hours in the same weather today, I find myself doing the same.

It was a nice ride, wind notwithstanding. Not one of my fastest by a darn sight, but quite enjoyable anyway. I was gonna take the Ritchey, after somebody posted a 1991 review of the Road Classic - the fancier, fillet-brazed-by-Tom-himself version of the Ritchey road bike. The Road Logic is the "TIG-welded-by-somebody-else" version. Last night I prepped "Old Tom" for today's ride. This morning when it was time to get ready to ride, the rear tire was dead flat. So I took the Litespeed. I almost took the Circuit, because I liked riding it so much yesterday, but then I thought better of it - I still have one more thing to do to make it fit just right!

There used to be a pro XC racer who came to our short Sunday rides and rode with the racers on his hardtail. He was fast and had an amazing spin. His team brought him from Mexico to get him some training races, according to local chatter.
He did get a road bike to try some racing but decided to stay with XC.

Up at 6:30 and worked on things around the house until 2 pm. Going to get it on the market April 22nd. Roof is scheduled to be done on Tuesday but rain is forecast Tuesday through Thursday so who knows. Indoor pictures and drone photos are on hold pending roof completion.

New mailbox installed, 3 trees downed, cracks in driveway filled, re-caulked around base of shower, tidied up basement, wired a new light fixture in basement and put new LED floodlights in.

Got help from a guy at work who is on maintenance crew. I do low skilled manual labor the dude from work is skilled. After I did that, we completed paperwork with the realtor. Didn't need that added to my day but that's adult life in the big city.

Through it all Roscoe was my best friend. Naturally.

Attempted to mount a bottle cage and to my chagrin, of my vast collection of little screws, I don’t have any that will fit the mount on the GT. They are all too big. When I go uptown to get a tube,I’ll try for screws too.

The sorting and organizing process has begun, for the drastic reduction of the fleet. Three road bike frame sets and almost all of the small parts. A donation has crossed my mind as a way of dealing with the componentry. It has no value here. And the frames are gigantic. Maybe a rental company will want them to rent to tallish Gringos. The first road bike I bought here was online. The biggest frame I could find was a 54. The other one I lucked into. The rest all came down on the plane.
