I think riders are just starting earlier now. It definitely seems like a trend. Maybe its a cleaner field. This sport has been rife with doping for 60 years, only recently has it stopped being a 'wink, wink' issue and actually taken seriously.
I'll throw this one a bone.........with Covid, could the younger riders have been more prone to utilizing Zwift to train versus the older riders? Thus, an edge given depending on how the lockdowns and environment went down in their area?
Just a swag
I think the older riders can still do things like ride rollers and trainers etc... maybe they thought the season was a wash and spent time with their families. At the same time, folks have been allowed to ride outside in many places so it's not like that hadn't been happening.
Buttttt... you're probably onto something that younger riders may have been zwift racing etc to take some edge off the monotony. Anything and everything helps with indoor training, no?
Again, Doge cherry picks exceptions and fails to see it doesn't prove a rule.
That doesn't make them not fast, not great, or change he that he knows or knew fast youngins. It just says his experience does not map over to the whole.
I don't claim it proves anything. But I am not alone in noticing it. Johan, Lance, George all talking about it. I assume they are cherry picking too. Start at 29:45.
