Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There are a bunch of bridges alright, none transparent, but you'd be hard pressed to find many leg breaking hills in most of NYC except for the Bronx and northern Manhattan. There's a hill on west 141 street in Harlem that I used to avoid routinely. I rate it S for severe . . . one of those hills like in SF where you have to lean forward even to walk up it.

It's quiet here. Everyone must be writing performance reviews.

It was interesting watching the group break up into at least 3 distinct groups, within the first 2 miles. I ended up in a group of about a dozen riders, 3rd on the road. It was hard staying with the group, like the time I rode with PenVelo's 'racers' group instead of the 'recreational/century riders' group. I found I'd be bouncing back and forth between pushing 190w and then two quick hard pushes up to 350. This is why Erg Mode is so difficult for me, I think. In Resistance Mode, I can do whatever average power is required by pushing, then backing off, then pushing then backing off, but Erg Mode chases you when you back off.

Anyway, twice I was in a group of maybe 10 riders and they suddenly disappeared - Poof! Gone! - and I was by myself. The first time they reappeared within about 5 seconds, but the second time I think it took longer and they dropped me. Or I dropped them, which seems a lot less likely. Zwift weirdness. And when we got to the Petit KOM, I got dropped. I'd spent too much energy keeping up with the group. Thank god the last 2miles are all downhill!
There's an update today. Worked great

Nope.

I guess I could though. I played a Bach piece last night. The performance was very mediocre.

That's a Self Evaluation. I have to write them for my Minions. I've got 5 4 to do. I hate writing them.

Great zwift ride tonight, ftp went up again. 248 from zwift ,
247 from strava. Starting to feel stronger on the bike. I've lost a couple lbs. to, thats kinda nice also.
I did not want to ride tonight. I slept poorly last night. Legs were sore too. Fixed my headset. Spun for a while on a preride warm up. Didn't help. The first 10 min. Were long.

Good point. The mechanic may have mis-identified the substance on the bars.
