Hello! This is my first post here. Since retiring I had been taking daily walks of 2-3 miles. Well I decided I needed to build stronger muscles in my legs than I was getting from my walks. So I started riding my ol' cruiser. Heavy 1 speed coaster brake. Lately I wanted something better but not knowing what. So instead of spending a bunch of money I ordered a hybrid online. I've had it about 2 weeks and jump on it nearly every morning. Bought a little GPS unit(Meilan Mini GPS) to see how far I was riding. Best so far was 11.53 miles. Had to take a day off after that ride. I've rode 8-9 miles daily after that rest day.
Today I rode to the library. Returned some books(glad I put my rear rack on and a small bag). Then finished up at 8.33 miles.
Wish I could post a pic but can't yet. I'm 69 and enjoying myself. I'm also enjoying reading your posts
Hope to post regularly,
Lee

Today, my girlfriend and I drove up to Minnewaska State Park in New York and took her Surly Long Haul Trucker and our new Bike Friday All Packa for a loop of Lake Awosting. Good times and some beautiful views!

I picked up what I hope is my forever bike on Friday, an All-City Super Professional. Took it out for a shakedown ride Saturday on the American Tobacco Trail, after swapping out handlebars, seat, pedals. Easy ride, the bike felt great!

I rode to work today and took an extended ride home. The weather was warm this afternoon. But still a great day to be out riding.

About 30 miles around New Paltz, New York on a Surly Long Haul Trucker and Bike Friday All Packa.

I did get a bike ride in today. I was trying to replicate the ride I did this past Friday. And all was going well until I went straight where I was supposed to turn right. So I cut myself short by five miles. So I looped around at the end of the ride which gave me another 3.5 miles so I was only 1.5 miles short from this past Friday's ride. Though my intent going out was to extend the ride. Hopefully next time I get the chance to take the ride I will know to turn right. The weather today was wonderful for riding with blue skies and the temp at 85 degrees.

essiemyra glad to hear you had a good ride. I too cut mine a little shorter than I had intended. I was going to ride a new trail around a marsh. But too many people out on it today because of the holiday.
I ended up riding the outside perimeter of Mountain House(not a town yet I don't think). Total was 13.69 miles. Couple more posts and I'll add a picture

26.31 miles with a big climb in the middle. Similar to Saturday’s ride except I went farther up the canyon this time.

I had to call my wife for a ride home because this wasn't going to be fixed with a patch. Took another bike off the wall and another 20 miles. By the way, my rims were not that filthy before the tire blew.

Rode to Seattle to see the grandson. Felt very strong today. Ran into a mid-50s guy just before crossing Lake Washington and enjoyed chatting with someone with similar power.

32 or so miles with 1,100 ft of climbing around the Boston area on my Milwaukee single speed. It was a warm day, but still a nice ride.

Wife's 73rd Birthday today so while she slept I started riding at 1:34AM and completed 75.57 miles. 73 miles for her age and the extra 2.57 miles for GOOD MEASURE and to make the total a palindrome.

I got out early this morning due to wanting to get somewhere cool today as our temps were going to be about 90 degrees today with humidity. So I left the house to ride at 6:30 am and was back at the house at 8:30am. Just a ride to get out and chase miles. I did get to the coast today, so it was cooler and comfortable and finished a book. So riding and reading a great day!

On the bike at 8:00 and detoured around a couple schools to avoid the craziness. Rode south using bike lanes 98% of the way to our train station. Did a turn around in the parking lot and headed north. Made a wrong turn. Guess I missed the road I was looking for. Oh well maybe next time. Once back in my stomping ground I rode a few loops through some quiet residential streets till I broke 17 miles then headed home. Back in my driveway my GPS said 17.39. 10:10 am.
A new personal best for distance for me.
Enjoy the day!

This morning my grandson was uncharacteristically sad and weepy. Instead of taking him to school, I took him for pancakes and bacon and then for a couple of laps around a small lake. While I wouldn't make it a habit to let him skip school, I don't think the classroom and fluorescent lights would have put the smile on his face that fresh air, sunshine and a bicycle ride did.

40 miles at 17.6 average speed with almost a whopping 1000’. Legs feel it and wish it wasn’t so. Guess that’s what I get pushing 69.

This week was pretty much the same as every week for me - with some added heat.
Nightly 30 mile rides on my local MUP. Varying intensities, speeds...
The MUP has 4 short/steep ramps in either direction - once a week we attack the climbs with full gas efforts. Once a week we do loosely structured 8-10 min intervals.
The MUP is on the water between two major bays - its almost always windy. Some nights we do hammer sessions with tailwinds and enjoy some free speed.
Last night we hammered into the headwind and with the tailwind.
Next week - rinse and repeat.

A typhoon is blowing through Tokyo today, so no ride. But I did play an hour of squash with my daughter, and I am feeling it tonight. I’ll be feeling pretty sore tomorrow.

Another warm, humid day in the Boston area. Got out with a friend for a relatively short, relatively hilly ride before the predicted rains came.

Nice and cool this morning. Rode south again to the train station. Didn't miss my turn today that takes me to downtown. Veered off before downtown because of the Farmers Market and closed streets. Found a new loop to add some distance. 16.29 miles today. A good ride for this newbie.
