Our earlier ones didnt have them. My 88 Criterium doesnt have much space for a peg or room for the pump tube.

Smaller frames don't need a pump peg since the pump just fits into the acute angle of the toptube & downtube.

Neither of my 90s Cannondale had a pump peg. The 91 SR 300 was a criterium geometry frame so I didn't expect one, but my 97 R500T should have had one IMHO. Only my Motobecane had a peg IIRC.

89 SR500, yes. It's red now. The rest of the 8 speed DA, white housings, and white decals to come.,,,,BD
It will look a lot like this one, which probably belongs to someone here. Red anodized rims though, and brifters instead of DT shifters.

If I ever figure out how to post a photo , I'll post my SR400 3.0 Bought it off Craiglist from a guy who only rode it a couple of times, because it was too big for him. Had it in his garage for yeas, then his wife decided he needed to get rid of it. New tires, brakes, re-wrapped the handlebars, and a new seat. Love it.

Geez, just got my top tube cable guides from vintagecannondale.com. Well, the tangs on the clips are trying to spread open before the push pins can be started into the clips. Plenty bummed. The pins are to the point of bending over sideways, instead of pushing in. There is not enough shank length on the clip to get it past the inside of the frame tubing before it tries to open. The pins can be pushed in and out all day long off the bike. I am waiting for an email now.
,,,,BD
If I can find a pop rivet with a big enough head to hold the clip, and a small enough shank to go into the holes on the frame, I may go that route instead..... A little black touch up paint, and no one knows but me, and you all of course.![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Overall, it doesn't look half bad.. Now I just need cable guides...

Bikedued, I'm using the Shapeway reproduction guides on my beater. They don't use the pins, but have the nubs that insert into the frame and mine are simply super glued to the top tube...about two years on, they're still attached. Plan B was to drill the guides, and if need be the frame, and use rivets to attach.

Yeah, I think I will end up with pop rivets. I want to ride it this weekend, so that may be the only option. I don't see Vintage Cannondale having a different clip to use, or getting it to me by tomorrow anyways. I definitely will NOT be using zip ties.,,,,BD
I only hope that the tubing doesn't crack around the holes while being riveted. With rivets that small though, it probably will not be an issue.

You're better off using Shoo Goo to hold them instead of rivets. Dab O' Goo, hold in place with masking tape, let sure 24 hours.
Rivet head may protrude too far into the cable holding space, making it difficult or impossible to insert the housing.

Nope, pop rivets were too tall on the head, to let the housing through. I ground them down a little, but that looked horrible. What did I find as a workable solution? The pull rods from the pop rivets. I believe the 1/8" sized rivets. I cut short pieces of them off, and used those as push pins, with the plastic clips. Test fit the rods before you do this, and make sure they slip into the clips with a slight resistance. I can shake the whole bike with the guides now, they fit that tight. The guides are awesome, they just need more R&D on the attachments. If they made the push pins from stainless rods, then they wouldn't rust either. The damage from the ordeal? A tiny nick, that will be completely hidden by the housing. I just have to remember to wash the bike down after a hot weather ride, or maybe touch it up with a scrap of paper as a brush, when I get some more of the paint. Man, am I ever glad that's over! Next time I order these guides, I will immediately throw out the plastic clip pins, and use the pop rivet pull rods as I did on this bike. I will be done in 15-20 minutes, instead of 2 hours.,,,,BD

Got it done yesterday, and in time to ride today. Nice riding machine. I didn't even notice the chainline issue from the other thread. I may lose the Armadillos, and get some Gatorskins or something later on. I like the way these brown wall Armadillos look, but the ride is a little stiff and dead feeling, depending on the road surface.,,,,BD

Bikedued, Looks very good (I like tan sidewalls also.) I really need to start on my '86 now that I've settled on a color.

And the twins. I cannot believe how close the paint match is to C'dale red. I originally bought the decals I used on the road bike, for the mountain bike. Maybe I should order another set? I do have a paintable Tange fork, so I don't ruin that chrome fork.,,,,BD

You mean you guys hadn't heard about the new Edlebrock line of C&V frames and intakes?
