Tough to top that Skagit Valley photo by northbend, but today in California was pretty nice. My first base-layer free day this year.

Here's a meadow on one of my common routes:
Those trees are redwoods that regrew from huge stumps left over from logging long ago.
CCorlew, you have been on this route -- between Fieldbrook and Blue Lake, CA.

Not many flowers or blossoms around here yet (snow flurries last night).
This old girl probably wasn't expecting such a cold Spring. She seems all cozy and warm sitting on her eggs...warmer than I was for sure!!

Thank you. Here in Loovul the early bloomers waited until the last moment, and everything is blooming all at once. By next weekend we should know that Spring is here to stay.
As lovely as it is, it isn't the explosion of color that Willamette Valley has. I'd love to see it in person, and, as my son is moving out there in a month or two, I imagine I'll get my chance

Nothing as nice as the gorgeous flowers in the PNW around here.
Here's a tree I pass on the Suncoast Trail. Not sure what the story is behind all the wind chimes in the tree. Some sort of memorial garden.
I haven't counted but the must be several dozen.

During my rides this weekend, and browsing through these amazing pictures, I was thinking of the comment Biker 395 made on the page before this "the thing I really like about the picture her head position ... up and enjoying the scenery:" I vote we create a new jersey for the "Heads Up Cycling Team" The tagline could be "It's not about the destination, but about the journey."

I haven't ridden here, but I sure wish I get the chance. Some photos of the Grand Canyon taken a few weeks ago.
A mule trail out to one of the cliffs. I was told by our guide that mountain bikers use those trails all the time.
A 400 mm zoom of the Colorado River (in the V between the rocks). The road at the bottom of the canyon is also used by off rode cyclists.

Here's a comical take on just what is floating down the Mississippi during this flood.
And I'd love to know just WHAT these things are doing...

Congrats on the new baby.
I see we have the same taste in Gatorade (Rain Berry).
PBJ probably works better than the honeybun.

This a view off to the south on the Parks highway between Nenana and Fairbanks. It was taken last summer on my tour from Anchorage to Fairbanks and is a view I have always enjoyed.
