Oh, right! That's why a bunch of people said it was essentially a Wahoo Kickr Core!

Thanks for all the help on the Zwift thing. I told her what you guys said but I don't know if she wants to make the investment.

Does a mutual friend have it? I would advise a session or two to get a sense of what it’s like before deciding. It certainly makes a trainer session more tolerable but it’s not for everyone.

We are looking at Air BnB options for our next trip to LA for October. Leading candidate is Santa Monica, it’s on the light rail metro “expo” line and close enough to the city for mrs datlas but close enough to the nice roads up the canyons (eg Latigo) for me, assuming I don’t get taken out by a tractor-trailer on the PCH.

Today, I was reminded that one man's Z2 ride is another man's hammerfest. It was the monthly C&V ride and one of our number dropped out at about miles, after a half-mile hill that really doesn't work well with vintage gears. It feel responsible - I took the lead and I based my speed on whether there was anyone close behind me, but I think this might have pushed this guy too much, so that the hill just cooked him. He sat down in the shade after and told us to go on without him. So we did.
Ah, well. That's the thing about a C&V ride vs a regular group ride - group rides, you tell people the pace and they can choose to go or not. The C&V ride, we just kinda wing it based on who's riding. After Ryan dropped out the 3 remaining of us rode the rest of the ride a steady pace, a bit slower than my Sunday ride, but more Z2/Z3 than Z1/Z2.

Rode solo again today. I think it's the most solo Saturday riding I've ever done. 52 miles and just under 4k and not too hot. Encountered a group of old dudes and one was a guy I rode with 30+ years ago. Told me he's 86 now and he was on an e-bike. Also, a guy who was our club secretary back then was there on a regular bike and he's close to 90. Amazing to see them climbing hills.
Later I saw 2 of the faster riders from my club going the other direction and I was glad I wasn't chasing them. When I was on the last 6 mile climbing section I was passed by a young woman who said "G'day" as she went by. I entertained the thought of keeping up with her but I snapped out of that pretty quickly.

The one on the e-bike was a good rider in his 50s. I was 35-ish and always enjoyed riding with him. Nice man.

Indoor antenna gets basically nothing here, so Paramount+ will be added for the footballs.
