My only acquisition for this last year was a late 80's custom Rodriquez. The build on it is unique - I would call it a fast commuter. Mid-fork mounts for a rack but no eyelets, etc. on the drop outs. Once I got it sorted out I found it to be a comfortable ride.

Turned 60 this month, so I guess that means I'm old. How to tell if you are young or old: if you fall and people laugh, you are young, it someone rushes over to help you up and asks if you are OK, you are old. My doctor said I needed more fiber so I bought a Synapse Carbon 105. This will be my primary bike this year.

Took delivery of a ‘new’ 1980 bike.
i seldom acquire a rideable bike.
US builder, a custom for original owner and will do very well for me. Maybe a slightly longer stem. Half step and a granny compliments Stronglight and the Galli gold is an ‘I’ catcher, had to have it.

TriAero carbon fiber frameset (ICAN) with Boyd carbon clinchers, Ritchey aero bars with internal wiring for Shimano Ultegra Di2 system. Garmin 830 with Varia radar, integrated Bontrager Flare lights front and rear, and a Rylo 360 degree video camera mounted to the left hand handlebar end.
The radar, lights, and 360 camera are a result of being struck from behind by a car two years ago. 12 stitches in my left arm, some serious road rash, a chunk taken out of my knee, but the helmet saved me. Oh, yeah, the lawsuit settlement paid for the new bike. At 68 with a bad knee and 2 heart stents, I tell my riding friends it's like a Ferrari powered by a lawn mower engine.

Sold my blue Rodriguez above for these two bikes. Always wanted one and figured 2 was better. Still working on rebuilding them.

1972-73 Motobecane Grand Record
I've been tweaking my 1972-3 Motobecane Grand Record. A longer stem and wider bars made a big, big difference. I have no idea how folks rode those short stems and narrow bars BITD. I like the gearing on the bike. I swapped out the original 52/40 for 46/36 rings on the TA crank. The high is not very high but the low gets me up the local 10% grades I like to ride in comfort. The parts are mainly original other than wheels (campy hi flange tipo with straight skewers laced to ambrosio 27 inch clincher rims, campy seatpost, and Brooks saddle). The paint is crackled but the bike is mechanically sound. I need to cut the toe straps down. It's responsive and reasonably light weight at 24 lbs; not bad for a steel bike with a Brooks saddle. It's a fun bike to ride.

When I'm feeling frisky I ride my Mercian.
For rough or off-road routes or when I want to bring stuff with me, I ride my Raleigh Professional Mk I.
