"Detrain"? Is that what I was doing all those years!
I remember a conversation with another cyclist, who said sadly that now that we're getting older, we won't be getting PRs on Strava anymore. But I think he had underestimated just how out of shape I was. Here I am, 65 years old, faster than I've been since my 40s, and all because I was a fat lazy slob for 20 years.

I like sharpening plane blades and chisels on stones, but don't want to futz much with kitchen knives. I use a hand held wusthof for that.

I never liked any of the Stevie Nix stuff but I heard her perform live on the radio and I enjoyed that.

The founder of one place I worked had a 308. Nobody cared about that car. He also had a Jag. Nobody cared about that car either. He also had 10(!) Austin Healey 3000s which he had lovingly restored. Those were special cars.
And when I was looking for some vintage 1965 Land Rover parts long after I had left the company and he had retired, a parts store who couldn't source the parts asked me if I knew Bill. He had a 10 bay shop, so he couldn't get any more Austin Healeys.

I'd love to do some weight training in the winter, but just bundling up against the cold and getting to a gym is enough of an obstacle. That reminds me that I still have some resistance bands from my PT last year; maybe I'll look in to incorporating that.

They inherited Dad's Citroen DS21 Pallas, which had been sitting for probably 20 years. It's apparently restored, but she's a little afraid to drive it - which is funny, because when I was 17, I got to drive it to school for like 6 weeks while Dad was recovering from hernia surgery. It's not hard to drive! Just pretend there's a clutch when you're shifting, remember the pattern

Yeah, the issue is that when I am doing a "real" ride I can bridge a gap or nail a climb by going from 85-90% of FTP up to maybe 100-110% of FTP for 30s, and I am fine....
The problem on Zwift is that it exaggerates the benefits of drafting, so in order to bridge a gap in the fake world I have to go up to say 120-140% of FTP to bridge a gap...and then once I get on with the group, I struggle to stay with them.
Long story short, it feels like the world of Zwift forces me to burn big matches while in the real world they are small matches or maybe even just little sparks.

A collegiate cyclist I know was also hit by a car this week. She got banged up pretty bad, but will be okay.
The bike, not so much.

oh experts, does this rubbing off of the finish on my seat clamp mean
1) nothing
2) legs too fat
3) seat too far back (professionally fitted but between frame sizes)
4) bad clamp/seat combo
5) other

If your saddle works for you, don't change it for this. If the position works for you, don't change it for this. Saddle rail widths are standard, so there's no changing that...
All that said, you've got a post with very little setback and your saddle is clamped at the very front of the usable rail range. You could go to a ~25mm offset post and clamp further back on the rails while maintaining the same saddle position. Putting the clamp a little further back, and under a wider portion of the saddle, might give you just enough to avoid rubbing... No guarantees, though.
