A CL find, was one of her deceased husbands bikes bought new as she remembers in 1968 or maybe 1969. Believed to be a PX-10?. Has the 6 digits as in one of the pics. She said he had it repainted from the original white quite a few years ago. Didn't get into what was original and what was added.
Campy Record/Super Champion H/W
Suntour Superbe brakes
Shimano Biopace
Shimano Deore xt RD-m730, FD-m732

any additional info appreciated.

Farmroast, that's interesting. It looks like a touring style frame, and if it is, it probably wasn't imported into the US. miamijim, can you weigh in on this?

thanks Tom, it didn't seem to exactly match anything I researched. But not so much available for 60s Peugeot.
my raleigh sc seemed lonely so needed to find it a friend.

It looks right for a late 60's bike. Seat stay caps, dropouts with eyelets, fork rake curvature, chain stay cable stop, it all looks correct. My guess is that when it was re-painted the owner had the water bottle, top tube and pump braze-on's added. The serial number font doesn't look like the typical Peugeot font but there's nothing that stands out and says, 'this isn't a PX10'.

Aha! miamijim is most certainly right. The new paint job threw me off. It's an old (60's or 70's) PX-10 with a paint job mimicking the 80's Peugeots.

I like it very much.

I agree Tom. It looks too good to be a '60s paint-job.

That's not my point. The graphics and everything look just like a 1980's model. It couldn't have been painted before 1980. I'm not speaking of the quality but of the style. Yet the Nervex lugs and the wide clearances are not characteristic of a 1980's PX-10. So it is likely an old PX-10 (or old something but probably a PX-10), and it is surely a repaint that does an excellent job of copying the 1980's style.

That all fits with the story the woman told, he liked the bike but never really liked the white color. That he liked this color years later and had it repainted and some new decals
Enjoyed a little test ride with it today. She was pretty sure it's a '68 or at least before their daughter was born in '69

The hanger had to have been modified to get that derailer to work on it. I don't like the brake cable routing. It doesn't have the steep head tube that makes some of the later ones twitchy. I like it.

Farmroast - I have little doubt that there is a 60's issue PX under that c. 1981 repaint and decal scheme, which just happens to be an especially lovely Peugeot paint and decal scheme.

Enjoy your PX10.

Hi, so here's a question: is a 1988 Peugeot Chorus (PY-CA-W) a PX-10? It appears to have the same frame as the Dolomites (PX-CA-W) from that year, for instance. Here's my brand new old Chorus (I am 99.99% sure it's a french-market Chorus (or else someone went to a lot of trouble hanging a full set of Chorus components on some other 1988-era frame)).

Thanks, Jeremy

Here is my new (to me) 1972ish PX10 after a bit more clean up. Thanks Forum members with the help in dating this one. Still need to rebuild bearings throughout; happily found an old TA bottom bracket tool in the bottom of my bike tool box. Still need to move the location of the bracket for the bar end shifters; no idea why the original owner had it mounted so low on the frame...

1979? px10? Based on overseas catalogues . Was told this bike was imported by original owner from The UK . is very clean and tidy . Previous owner loved it obviously . Love that green on the early repainted PX10!!!!

Yes it does and it was a great redo at that. Thank you, farmroast, for sharing a really nice bike!

I agree with your assessment. The actual model in the US is PXN10LE, link here:

Consider this a "before" photo....This just arrived from Italy. I assume it is a PX10 or some variant. Serial number 6120211 stamped, with the decal scheme 1976 would be an ok guess?
So many parts have been replaced by previous owners, I have practically bought just a PX10 frame! Restoring this will take lots of part hunting & work, but I'm in no hurry. The interesting thing about this frame is the routing of the brake wire through the top tube. The entry holes look cleanly drilled, there are no signs of removed cable guides and the paint on the tube looks totally original. Still, I suppose it is a modification, not factory made?

pertti_jarla, I have never seen the cable through the top tube on a Peugeot bicycle, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be factory done, just don't think so.

Here are a couple links, you could get lost for hours on research:

Peugeot PX 10 Grail Bike

My Peugeot PX 10, possibly early 70's. Came with Normandy high flange hubs with sew up's, replaced with Pelissier 2000 sealed hubs with Bontrager clincher rims. I ride my collection and tubulars in Chicago don't work with glass and other debris on the streets. Recently bought on CL, now matches my wife U08 Mixte in graphics and color, which I purchased back in the mid 70's.

Equipment wise it's pretty close to the original setup:

Nearly completed, when I install water bottle brackets and Brooks Pro Leather saddle. Replaced the tubular wheels with Pelissier 2000 wheels with Bontrager rims.

My wife's Peugeot UO8 Mixte:

Hi, Here's the serial number, perhaps someone can tell the year "Ser 1861223". I've believe I found the brochure for my Pug Px10 I googled between 70 and 74 and this pop up, what do you think. Thank you for the information.

So, does yours look more teal in certain lighting like mine does?

Hello gioscinelli, the decals on your px10 are the early 1970's style. If the bike has the original simplex criterium RD check the back side of the pulley cage for a date code.

^Ooops, sorry, you've got a '70s PX-10. The shield decals for that era are squared off. '60s decals had pointy shields.

BTW, the bikeboompeugeot website has been deleted. Verizon pulled the plug on all of those personal web-pages.

Mine is a real "Navy Blue" color - doesn't have any of that of bluish-green flavor to it. Yours is quite a nice variant though!
