Where Did You Ride or Walk Today?

I took a longer scenic ride home yesterday, for 27 miles total. With all the trees in bloom it's like the air is perfumed. I love spring, but autumn is more filling. Today I walked a couple of miles in a loop, doing some lunch time shopping. I'll need to go running when I get home today or tomorrow as I took the motorcycle to work.

In the right lane
On my commute home, I took a little side trip in the countryside. Did some gravel road, a few hills and a scenic bike trail. One day I should invest in a computer for my bike, but I think I did 30-35 miles today. Which is about as good as it gets after 8 hours on the keyboard at work.

It was unseasonably cold again this morning: +3C on the way to work, and I found that invigorating - I did a number of out-of-saddle sprints for traffic lights, or up short inclines. Usually I hold back on the way in so as not to sweat.

I rode to work and home.
This was only interesting and out of the ordinary because I went to refresh the tire on my road bike this morning, and BOOM! the end of the valve blew off, and all the air came out. This meant Plan B, which today, was a '76 Schwinn Breeze that I keep around as a backup and guest bike. It was kind of slow but kind of fun, and much better than changing a tube in the morning.

I started a project last summer to commute on every through street in the rectangle defined by my house at one corner and my office at the opposite corner. It's about 3 km/8km.
At first glance it seems it's mostly a NS/EW grid, but there are ravines and rail lines and cul de sacs and diagonal and one-way streets all over the place, that make it very difficult to do it in a systematic way. I'm maybe 3/4 done. Tonight I was going to go a bit out of my usual way to finish off one remote sector so I can grey it out on my map, but it was cold and rainy, so I just took the most direct, easy way home

I haven't been doing as many lunchtime walks lately because there haven't been as many lunchtimes. We've had a 5-day break over Easter, 2 days back at work, and then a 3-day break for ANZAC Day.
So, as mentioned earlier, we cycled and walked during the Easter holiday. And I walked at lunch during our 2 days back at work ... one day was a walk to pick up something for our car, and of course, to do a little bit of shopping as well.
On both of those days, we also went to the gym, but we drive there so although we walk, run, row, swim, and cycle, it doesn't count in this thread.
Friday we drove out to our next destination, but stopped and did a hike in a national park in the afternoon, plus an additional walk to see one of the many dams in the area, and that included a climb of 196 steps. All up, 6.4 km.
Saturday we were supposed to do a half-day kayak tour, but bad weather came in so we only walked and swam.
All up, we did 37 km of walking last week.
This week we were back at work again, and I've been doing lunchtime walks. Monday, up to the library to exchange a book and to a large craft & sewing shop to get thread (2 km), Tuesday I was on the hunt for a sparkly jacket - no luck (2.5 km), Wednesday I was still on the hunt for a sparkly jacket and a small decorative handbag (1.5 km), today I was on the hunt for boots (1.5 km) ...
I need better footwear for all this lunchtime walking in the increasingly cold temps here. I'm hoping these new boots will do the trick.

This week I fitted in several random street segments that helped close of sectors of my map, but I still have a long way to go. I also walked to the bank during a break at work today - 800 m each way. I suppose I could start depositing cheques by phone, but I like the outing.

My usual walk, though the route is the same, MapMyWalk pegs it at 2.23 miles while Google's My Tracks says 2.14 miles...

It was my 4th time, I waited for a good 20 minutes, and I went at pretty sedate pace. Where I donate is only 3 miles from house with no hills Otherwise I would have opted for the bus!

Decided to let my wife sleep in and went for a walk. Instead of my usual one way trip from the QT to home, I made it a round trip and added probably a 1/4 mile by cutting through a park.
I used a couple of different apps on my tablet to log the miles (another reason I went for the longer hike is to evaluate the differences and then get rid of one), and though I don't have the tablet in front of me, I do recall that I had burned 300+ calories on the outbound and 200+ on the return- most likely due to differences in elevation.

Yesterday ... walk from home to the doctor's office in the morning ... then to the hospital and back to work at lunch.
Plus the usual lunchtime walks.

Still biking irregular routes to and from work, to finish off sections of the map I am trying to colour in, between my office and home. Did a couple of extra loops this morning.

I rarely use the same route twice in a row. My dad always said you would enjoy life more if you take the "scenic routes" even when on a business trip. I know routes that are better for different types of weather--shady streets on hot days, sheltered low-lying roads when it's windy.

I think that's cool. How far have you gotten on your project?

I've discovered some lovely alcove-type neighbourhoods right off busy main streets, and weird or beautiful homes, churches and parkettes, that I never knew existed despite living in this city for over 35 years

Pedaled too far.
This evening I walked,
a mile to the grocery store,
avoiding traffic.

Sorry to hear that.
I hope you feel better soon
And can ride again.

Sunday -- a little, casual, slow walk. We needed to get out for a bit of fresh air. I've been battling a nasty virus for almost a week now ... here's hoping IT is starting to lose the battle.

Another successful round of biking to and from the airport! The return flights were delayed, so I had a lovely late night ride home. My beater bike was perfectly safe chained to the bike rack (which is now inconveniently located behind some loaders.)
I'll probably do this again next month. Cabs at the local airport are like unicorns.
