Anyone following dk200? This race interests me more and more very year. I've got an old friend riding it this year and he looks like he is struggling a bit from the live tracker I can see. Seems like a hard day out there. I'd really like to try a gravel race before the end of the summer!

I'm leaning toward doing the gravel worlds in August (in Nebraska, have family there and am scheduled to be there anyway), just have to figure out stuff like using bike flights vs get my own bike case, and, oh, the small matter of trying to spend 8hrs in the saddle when I haven't exceeded 3.5hrs this year lol

Yeah I'd use my cross bike, but otherwise clueless on tire choice or other setup stuff. I have clement mxp's (33's) on right now and raced with them this past year as a recommended all-around tire, so that's the extent of my experience with off-road tires lol

I've ridden/raced gravel events on my cx bike using the Panaracer Gravelking sk tires the past 2 years with no issues (several 8+hour events). I've used both the 32 and 35 depending on terrain. My new Gravel bike has Schwalbe G-one 35's, so far I'm very happy with those too. I just did a long gravel ride on a variety of terrain last weekend and they were grippy but also pretty fast on the road sections.

I have those tires and like them a lot but I'm wondering how much protection they have versus pointy rocks. Everybody says go tubeless for gravel, but I really don't want to buy new wheels.

I loved my mxp's for cross but couldn't properly get them set up tubeless so burped them so many times..
I'd like to try the schwalbe gravel tires, though.

I received in the mail cards with gifts in them from my wife and grandmother yesterday. When I opened them, I was very confused. I didn't know why I was getting them. Then I actually read the card, and realized they were anniversary cards. I had totally forgotten about it.
Fortunately, the actual anniversary isn't until next week, so this was a good reminder.

My wife and dog typically come to watch me race. I've only raced a few times this year, but apparently I'm on the same circuit as 2 other racers who's wives watch as well. After each race, my wife goes over all of the drama that goes on during the race; evidently the race is second tier entertainment. On wife taking another wives spot. Wife of such and such has a racist dog, another wife eyeing a racer....so much drama my head was spinning! I also have no clue who these other guys are I race with.
I'm going to pitch 'Real Housewives of SCNCA Cat 4s' to E! and try to lock it in between Keeping up with the Kardashians and Storage Wars.

my supervisor asked me why I seemed so angry lately.
40 minutes later...
be careful what you ask for, I guess. Thank god they've piled me so unreasonably high with responsibilities that they can't afford to fire me. double edged blade, that.

Would you feel better if we sent you an Advance Auto Parts Gift Card? I know there aren't any near you but you can get something online.

Circuit race in south Jersey, crit in CT. And I don't do either of those any more. Me? I have a bike I don't know how to ride sitting in a box in my entrance way waiting for parts. 60 degrees, zero humidity, and sunny. Shakes head, pours another cup of coffee.

I thought you had done TT before. If not, RacerX would be a good guy to talk to.

Today I invited a lady I used to ride with to go mountain biking. Rarely see her anymore since she moved. She has raced TT, crits, road, and even got a 'cross championship once. We did singletrack with steep, rutted and rocky climbs and descents and she did great. I was impressed but I should have known. Fun day.
