Willier Cento1Hybrid bicycle joins the mighty Pcad Peloton Fleet. About 27 lbs., so it's heavy for a modern road bicycle, but it's the lightest e-bike currently made. 250w of assistance (there are three levels controlled by a button on the top tube). It flattens the hills big time (motor is in the rear hub, it only provides assistance when you are pedaling). Rides more or less like a real road bike, but you do feel the extra 10lbs. No worries, 250w is enough to offset 50+ extra pounds let alone 10.
It doesn't look like an e-bike at all. I've never had disc brakes on a road bicycle, they're great. I'm sure they will be MUCH better in the wet. You can ride this e-bike in the rain, the owner's manual says that, but you wouldn't want to immerse it in water. I would take this out on a some wet days, but not if it's really hammering rain.
I only use the assistance on upgrades. The manufacturer claims that the assistance only works up to 16mph, but on the first ride it was consistently providing juice @ speeds of up to 19-22 mph which was a very pleasant surprise. BIG fun to ride - you may burn slightly fewer calories per mile, but it makes you want to go farther and harder, so I felt I got a a workout similar to my regular bicycles. Maybe better just because it's such a blast.
Pretty nice spec, the newest Ultegra (this bike has mechanical, not electronic shifting) is very slick stuff. The only disappointment is aluminum rims. I would have rather paid $200 more and gotten carbon rims, but I'm sure the high end bicycle mail order boys @ Competitive Cyclist were trying to keep the retail price under $6K and so they did. The price on these will drop and the selection will broaden, EVERYBODY is going to have to make these bikes, many are coming out, some are way pricier. They'll come down within a year or two.
A very impressive and slick for an early offering in this space, these are going to be the hot velo retail trend in the next few years. When some local fatso drops you on that hill, they may be engaged in mechanical doping like your Uncle Pcad.
Bike weenie heaven, at least for a while.

Seriously, I have advocated e-bikes for years on the basis of allowing folks of different ability to ride together. As long as everyone is working as hard as they can, I don't see what's wrong with the bike making it possible for them to all stay together on a recreational ride. I would love to be able to climb hills, but simply don't have the wind to do it since my heart attack lo these two decades ago. With a bike like yours I could climb at Lake Tahoe without any trouble at all. Hilly terrain wouldn't have to be off limits. Hmmm!

On today’s ride, somehow my little Garmin 130 paired with the Varia Radar from another rider, so I got sort of a free demo. It picked up cars way earlier that we would hear or see them. Pretty cool, but for the type of riding I do nowadays I don’t think I want one too badly. Yet.

That said, I have lots of friends who are using Di2 and/or eTap. Both are viable and functional. If you Bike is set up for internal wires etc I would lean towards Di2. If not, would go for eTap. I have zero knowledge of Campy system so can’t comment on it.
If possible, see if your LBS and/or friends will let you do a little test ride.

Still feeling like carp.
Woke up with gastric distress, had to occupy the bathroom for a long time, and I knew I shouldn’t have gone riding, but still did. Could only manage about 55 minutes of riding, drank about 30 oz water (about 4 lbs), and when I got home, I was only 1.4 lbs more than my pre ride weight even with all the water I drank.
Trying to hydrate ever since I got back home, but still feeling hazy and lightheaded. Sigh.

Stick with your Campy mechanical stuff. EPS is nice and all, but Campy mechanical is already great and doesn't have a battery to charge. Fun to have but it's not necessary.

It's the little girl's first real day of preschool today. I'm hoping to get in rides while she's in class, but it's looking like I might get rained out today... though, if it's a light rain, I might just ride anyway, having been rained out yesterday.
