I know a few coaches who have a "24 hour" rule - parents may not discuss issues related to coaching decisions during a game until at least 24 hours after the end of the game. This is part of the agreement parents must sign when they join the team. On a 12U team, a player was expelled from the team because her dad would not comply with this rule. After the 3rd time, the HC had enough. It was really a shame for the kid. Nice kid, and a good player. They bounced to a bunch of different teams for the next couple of years, leaving a trail of bad vibes, until the kid quit playing the game completely. Her dad ruined the sport for her.
we had one parent tossed from baseball games and banned from a baseball tournament due to his crazy behavior (I believe this was 10U)
and this is the odd thing - not your typical over-the-top overzealous baseball parent
MD, PHD, Vice Chancellor, Professor and Department Chair, Director Department of Medicine this and that etc etc etc
easy going easy to talk to cerebral guy - but he could / would turn into a fire breathing dragon when he was on or near a baseball field
(maybe it was the field dry ? chalk used to line the fields ?)
crazy
the kid eventually dropped baseball

Yeah. Some parents flip a switch. It’s bizarre. We probably both have a lot of examples of parents behaving badly.
I enjoyed coaching from a perspective of helping young players develop skills and confidence, but stayed away from the management side. After it became clear that being a coach of my kid’s team was causing issues between us, I stepped outside the fence to do scorekeeping and livestream video. When we got to the college recruiting age, I was the guy getting team flyers in the hands of college coaches at showcase games, and talking to them about which players might be a fit for their program. I really enjoyed that part.
