New to road biking, after commuting a short distance on a Trek hybrid for years. So I was looking for an entry-level bike, considering the Specialized Allez Sport, but got side-tracked at the local Bicycle Flea Market event last week by a Raleigh Competition that was considerably marked down. Spent a bit more than I had planned to, but got a bike with part carbon frame and Ultegra components (not that I could necessarily tell the difference between Ultegra and one or two levels down, mind you). I have no prior experience to compare things against, but I'm enjoying my new blue bike :-)

To replace the piece of chit D2 customs I wasted money on. Several refit later they never felt right. Still wore them for a year to "see if I just get used to them", and I never did. Despite babying them, one year later they are developing holes! The inner sole is the only positive thing about it. They mirror my feet extremely well, so my hope is I can still use them in the shoes below. Can't say I am crazy about the looks altogether, but it is better than the bozo the clown looks of the D2 for sure.
To replace cables in my 11 speed stuff.

Cheapest purchase this week?
Second hand Ksyrium SL rear wheel to set up as my trainer wheel. HK$200 (about US$25). Bonus free old tyre to use as well. Perfectly ridable, so might be a good spare wheel for actually riding on!
Best purchase this week?
Custom insoles for my cycling shoes. New triathlon shop in town has the Sidas "Conform'able" system. Will report on how good they are after a few rides.

Nah, I'm partial to white shoes. The more white the better. If these turn out ok, I may get another pair in white with the black heel.

You all suck. Reading here convinced me that I should try these. Now my PI Elite bibs feel like I spent the ride on sandpaper by comparison. Knocked out my first century Saturday in the rain and I still felt super comfortable.

Picked up an inexpensive Carbon Fork for my Cannondale project. Need a seat post and then clean up the parts off the Centurion and see what I have. Hopefully I can get some time in on it after work a few days this week in between getting firewood split and maybe get it on the road this weekend. I am starting to think I may end up with a bike about 21ish pounds...not bad for a 63cm frame.

Well, i was about to go to my LBS to purchase a bike pump today (the yellow Joe Blow) but hopped on craiglist first just for fun to check out the local bike sales. Found a Trek 7000 multitrack, Specialized Helmet that's only a few months old, a U-lock and a Joe Blow Sprint. All for $75
The bike is not perfect, front rim doesn't match, fork and chainstay are a little scratched, but certainly worth it's share of the $75. I didn't decode the serial # yet, but i believe it's a 2005.
I'll go take some pictures and post them here.

I had to shorten the stem, and also later got a shortened reach bar for my Fuji Roubaix as well. I suspect my LBS fitted me to a frame that is too large, or maybe it is right to fit my leg length, *shrug*. Bars are still down, I'm quite flexible, can bend well, way down in aero comfortable and with elbows bent down as well tucked in can even still pedal with knees thumping against chest. Just have a short torso or back just doesn't like stretching that far forward.
Long rides have been WAY better since getting frame effectively shortened.
