I love how bikepacking gear is getting more and more mainstream in the touring world.
having more options of carrying stuff in well designed, well made stuff is pretty neat. I'm fine with panniers still, but could very well see having a lot of fun doing a very diff type of trip with a lot less stuff.
A friend of mine is doing the Divide ride right now, and circumstances couldnt allow me to go with him, but it would be very neat to do some stuff like this or a trip like your Iceland trip and have a lot more maneuverable bike.
and anyway, bike stuff is just plain neat, and great to have so much more available now.
And great that so many people are able to make these bags in the USA, hiring local people, building local economies. There's no reason to buy bags from the big brands when your state probably has 2-3 people churning out higher quality stuff for almost the same price.
Here is a bike I just built up. Ritchey Breakaway, Sram Etap , Carbon tubeless rims, 28-44 WI crank, 11-32 cassette. Dill Pickle rear bag with Nitto support.

It wasn't cheap, I'll admit - but rims are from China, nothing too fancy.
I meant I cannot see the photo because of the change in Photobucket's policy requiring one to pay $350 for third party hosting. It's been the subject of many threads on BF.
Are you telling me you see the photo when you look at your post and my quote of your post?

This is what I see:
Yeah, I see the photo I posted in both your original quote and this quote.
Cool bikes and pictures. Following on Instagram. Wish I could afford a Firefly... someday. I'd probably just keep it locked inside and stare at it all day (a terrible thing for a bike!)

I just toured 1600km Spain, did never lock it but also never left it a long time alone... thanks.
One question - the bike on the right seems to have a lot of gear stowed up front, dos it not affect the handling ?
thank you,
steering is very easy with a low trail fork. without panniers maybe even too easy ;) the "container" helps to stabilise, anyway, apart from the camera only light stuff goes in there, rain jacket, down jacket, paper maps, a small battery pack.....
