Thought about going after this one, but I don't need the +1 or the part-out project. It's been listed since May 27th, but I've confirmed it is still available.

1988 Schwinn Le Tour road bike - $100 (Cicero)

https://syracuse.craigslist.org/bik/6149909048.html

Nice condition road bike with Chro-Moly frame. I believe this is a 1988 model. 21" frame size. Classic touring bike with water bottle cage included. Always stored inside.

I've been trying to work a deal with the seller for about a week. He is hesitant to ship for fear of getting ripped off. I found a bike shop in Pensacola that will pack and ship the bike, but haven't convinced him to drop it off for me. Is there anyone in Pensacola that might act as a facilitator?

What about Bikeflights? They'll send him a box and arrange for pick-up, if he's willing to pack it himself. And you can pre-pay for everything.

Good luck!

Raleigh International - $795 (Lake Oswego, OR)

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/6174450979.html

It still seems overpriced to me, but it's less than people usually seem to ask for these.

I think that is a very fair price for one. For whatever reason they seem to bring top dollar, even more than for the higher end Raleigh Professionals.

small carbon allez with brifters: I see them very often still on the road around here so i figure if it was going to fail, it would have by now. all the ones left on the market now should be strong. full 105 (as the ad says) it is not, but still could be a great steed.

Yeah, it's not unreasonably priced relative to what people are apparently willing to pay. I just don't understand why people are willing to pay so much for these.

It's a quality frame from a well known maker that had top of the line components for the day. In my area when I was young, the only top quality bike you could find were Schwinn Paramounts, Raleigh Internationals and Peugeot PX-10's. Of those, Paramounts were expensive and rare, PX-10's were... well... they were...French. Internationals were available and still had that European cachet.

This one in particular has had a number of component changes. The price isn't terrible but I would want it more original than it sits.

Index 600 in '84? Isn't this closer to a '86 or '87? Reminds me of one of those Bertoni Corsa Mondiales from the late '80s

1991 Fuji Roubaix 54cm - $360 (Arlington, MA)

© craigslist - Map data © OpenStreetMap
wellington st
(google map)

condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Fuji
model name / number: Roubaix 1991
size / dimensions: 54cm
Fuji Roubaix 1991 for sale. Size 54cm. Standover height is 78cm / 31".
I'm short legged 5'9" and the saddle height is in the picture. If your jeans inseam size is 29 or 30", it fits perfect. 32" is okay. If your jeans inseam is 34", the bike is probably too small.
Overall condition is excellent. Frame has virtually no cosmetic problems and it's in beautiful blue. (It's called French Blue.) The total weight (including this MKS pedals, and rather heavy 28c tires in rear) is 23lbs. It's triple butted Ishiwata frame tubing, and it's one of lightest steel frames you'd find. (853 is probably a hair lighter but not by much.)

The sale is everything in the picture except the pedals. Pedals will be replaced with generic pedals.

I've tuned up the bike. Put a new chain on. Steering - repacked the headset bearings. Replaced the bottom bracket. The rear wheel is replaced with 130mm spacing wheel, with 4mm spacer for 7 speed. You can probably swap the cassette to 8 or 9 speed if you set the shifter to friction. The bike's groupset is Shimano 105SC circa 1991, down tube index shifter.

I got the bike, tuned it up, rode a couple of times, and decided that I don't like the bike. It's a very race oriented and a little too flex and twitchy for my liking. So, the bike needs a new owner who is looking for a classic steel, light weight, racy bike.

Cash only. Pick up only.

Agreed. I have an 1986 Corsa Mondiale in the awesome desert rose/electric rose/whatever color and it does remind me a lot, minus the chrome. https://imgur.com/a/19uyK
