I’m not a purist- miles are miles- whether in the garage or outside. Much harder to do 100 on the trainer than on the road- in one ride or 5.

Having not ridden outside since the 4th of December, I am ITCHING to ride tomorrow. I already outfitted the Litespeed with lights, saddle bag, Garmin head unit and Varia. Laid out toe booties, warm gloves, thermal skull cap, and food. Re-checked the fit of my new jacket from LeCol.
To date: 6,814 real miles and 472 fake. Lowest in a few years.

I go the other way - easier to do miles with no concern about sunburn, traffic, savage heat, carrying all fuel/fluids, mechanicals...

This is always interesting - I start with a three-word open that grabs a ton of letters and almost guarantees a 4-5-6-7 or a +1 somewhere in there, but means I'll almost never get a 3.r

I use two words to start that contain most vowels and the most common consonants. Then fill in.

Tell me this is as crazy as it sounds...
A friend of mine said no one would have cared about the first Top Gun if it hadn't been for "that Kenny Loggins song". I'm of the notion that no one would remember K-Log if it weren't for Top Gun...

Substitute Kelly McGillis for Loggins, and you may have a point.

First week at the new job went well, albeit pretty boring since I don't know anything yet so there's barely anything that I can work on
I guess typically new hires just go out into the field to get as much surveying experience as possible and to just get familiar with what things look like, so naturally it just rained a bunch so I didn't get to do that.
My commute is absolutely fantastic. I walked to work every day but one, and the only reason I didn't that day is because spouse and I are still trying to figure out morning logistics when both of us have to leave for work around the same time and we only have one bathroom . Since I have an hour lunch I'm able to come home and eat here, but I'll likely start riding to work just so that I have more options. My house is the only place within walking distance with the time I have, so the bike will give me some more flexibility in that regard (although being forced to either bring my lunch or eat at home will certainly save a lot of money).

Also, what a nice time to start. Work one full week, then have the next three only 4 days each
Yesterday was the first time I had been on a bike in 2 weeks. Had a minor surgery that took a little longer to heal than I hoped so I was really starting to get antsy. It's amazing how those first few pedal strokes feel when you've been away for a while.
It seems like my knee issues are gone as well, so now starts the build back up from a huge decrease in volume starting in late September and then a full 2 weeks off the bike.
