Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is it going to rain today? Depends on the weather.

I don’t know why I never considered it. The back of my unwater proof wind breaker looks like one gigantic skid mArk.

I bought some for my as yet to be picked up revolt. LBS owner’s dad died so he didn’t assemble yet, should be getting it this week.

I’ll be happy to stop riding the R3 on the salty roads

A month ago my dishwasher stopped working. Totally dead. An appliance tech came out and saw there was no power to the unit. An electrician came out and said he needed to pull the dishwasher to look at the wiring, but he's not an appliance guy so we had to reschedule. Both appliance guy and electrician came out and remembered that for some reason the power to the dishwasher is not only on a breaker, but on a switch on the wall above the dishwasher.

It had been accidentally turned off by either me or my wife

My unit dampers require two people to get the job done. I didn’t know that, and was doing it by myself with just listening to the airflow out of the unit. It seemed like if I opened the downstairs damper at all then half the upstairs wasn’t getting any airflow. So I just kept the down stairs closed. Oops.
I’m just glad it wasn’t worse, I am sure the hvac guy thought I wasn’t the brightest.

Of course after they said that was the issue I remembered being told that 4 years ago when I moved in. In that time I'd never touched it, so I pretty much forgot it was there.

I did feel pretty silly, but I'll take solace in the fact that two other people missed it, too.

I wonder if there is a wall switch for my snowblower. I tried one more time last nigh to see WTF is going on, and best I can tell the fuel goes through the fuel line fine (I spilled some gasoline, yuck!) but the small plastic fitting that connects the black fuel line hose into the carb. must be broken or clogged as there is NO fuel getting in there. I tried to pull that plastic piece off but was too concerned I would break it, I tried unscrewing it but it's apparently not threaded and I decided this is the limit of my ability. I will try to get a repair guy to look at it.

But maybe it's just the wall switch??

Foot of snow and a power outage. Winter is finally here.

Hard to picture exactly what you are describing. Inlet to the carb might have a fllter or screen. After that is normally a needle valve which is opened/closed by the float. If the needle is stuck in the seat, no fuel will get in. If you take the fuel hose off and put a clean piece of hose on and blow into it you should be able to get air through. If not, rap on the side of the bowl with a screwdriver handle while trying to blow air in. If it's a gravity feed set-up it wouldn't take much to clog it up.

You said you sprayed a product called "throttle body cleaner" in the carb? I was thinking about some of the products I have used and some of them will dissolve the crud (coking) but the evaporate so completely that whatever is left will harden. For electronic throttles I always used a product with an oily residue so it wouldn't leave hard deposits. I wonder if that's what happened to your fuel inlet needle.

Years ago, Mrs GeneJockey and I had a little black and white TV (yeah, that many years ago!). It suddenly stopped working. She wanted me to open it up and see if I could fix it. I said, "What, you think there's a big 'ON/OFF' switch?"

She opened it up, and immediately noticed a wire with a fuse. The fuse was blown. We replaced the fuse, and it worked again. She's never let me live that down.

Yeah, and this was the 'more relaxed fit', because I sized up. I'll see if I can lose another 10 lbs this summer. It's much easier to lose weight then, and I think 195 might be a good place to end up. Yes, too fat for this sport, but I remember being about that weight back in about 2000 and it made a HUGE difference in climbing.

I estimate that we're at about 50 inches for the season, after this episode. That's still a couple of feet behind schedule. Sad.
