BTW...Cicadas don’t really swarm like locusts. They mostly hang out in wooded areas, make of noise, mate and die.

I got adapters so I could use clipless pedals on the Lotus instead of the Dyna Drive clip-and-strap pedals, because they're really designed for old fashioned slotted cleat cycling shoes not tennis shoes. Because the platform of the DD pedals is BELOW the pedal spindle, it effectively lowers the bottom of the pedal stroke, which allows/requires you to set your saddle lower. Even so, because my legs are longish for my height, I was near the max extension of the Dura Ace EX seatpost it came with. Once I installed the adapters and the clipless pedals, the bottom of the pedal stroke is now 1-2 cm HIGHER, and because they're 170mm cranks, the saddle height needs to be raised accordingly. And I ran out of seatpost. I tried it with clipless and the seatpost as far out as the mark, but it felt really funny. So I ordered a new, longer seatpost. It's now installed and really, I only raised the saddle about 1 cm. HUGE difference! Before, the bike felt REALLY twitchy, especially at lower speeds. Now it feels much, MUCH more stable. Riding hands off is no problem, but it still changes direction easily to dodge rocks and potholes.
The brakes are much better with the pads stolen from the Ritchey (which got even better pads in exchange), but braking from the hoods is still not great. The same 'squeeze' in the drops gets a lot more braking. I conclude that Shimano did not expect serious braking to be done from the hoods, so they didn't give you much leverage there. I'll have to get used to that, and while they're still not as good as dual pivots, and not even in the same league as disks, they're good enough for all my rides except the big climbs, but the available gears already mean I won't go up those, so i don't need to worry about going down.
The tubular tires, run at the SRAM calculator's recommended 105/110 (they're only 22mm, after all) never tossed me out of the saddle, even while it felt like I could read the manufacturer's name off manhole covers I rode over. Curious what 25 would feel like, but it's not worth the expense.

So, 39 miles on the slightly revamped Mrs. Peel. I finally feel like this bike can be ridden like a bike, not a big toy. So, she's earned her place in the stable.

You can't easily gage how much toilet paper someone has but you can require an 8 gallon MINIMUM at the pump. Any less than 8 gallons pays the 8 gallon price. That'll stop/deter the people (cagey types to appease velo vol) from buying when they don't need it.

I ate lunch at a park today and a nurse sat in her Jeep with it running for a half hour while she ate her lunch.
