Thank you very much BigEyeBri! And welcome to the C&V Forum! Pull up a chair and join right in!
Definitely get some photos of your completed Extreme and share it with us, we'd love to see it.
We also have a vintage mtb drop bar conversion thread too. Feel free to add your bike there too. I was contemplating what my Impulse Comp would be like if I converted it for pavement pounding with a road bar.
And sorry to read you got your mtb stolen. Hate that, may karma catch up with that thief.

Wow that HaroCross is turning out great! I like the paintjob, not commonplace. And you have a more desired Tange straight tapered fork too.
I took the liberty to try to post one of the pics here for all to see until you figure out Imgur....I couldn't.

There's a guy in the East Bay (Berkeley/Oakland?) selling a larger one for $200 on CL, but I bet it needs some serious work done), here's a pic (if I can upload it)...

I just posted this in the drop bar mt bike conversion thread. I'm so proud of the way the bike turned out, thought I'd show you guys too.
This bike is about 90% completed. It started out as a 1986 Stumpjumper Sport frame and fork I purchased a year ago. The paint is candy-orange powder. The components are a mix of new, NOS and refurbished used. I think the most distinctive things about the bike are the Shimano 105 7sp downtube shifters and the color. The shifters are mounted on brazed on posts. I really like the relaxed geometry of the frame/fork. The 44/34/24 chainrings and the 32t big cassette gear help my old knees to get up these North Georgia hills. Aluminum fenders and lighter wheels are additions I hope to make soon. The bike weighs 26 1/2 pounds minus the rack.

I spoke too soon about there not being rain in Nor Cal, and scrambled to get my front brake working, lock mounted and my fenders installed for today's commute. I figured I'd go full retro, and donned not only my 1990 Haro Designs "Harocross" but also my late 80's Cannondale Pannier, my 1990 OR GoreTex rain hat (under my helmet) and my late 80's German? rain poncho who's colors were only legally sold together in the late 80's.

cyclotoine, thanks for the compliment...glad you enjoyed it.
Ah, the man knows his Treks...yes, the first bonded aluminum Trek MTB.
This project started off with my desire to build a WTB Team replica racer (they were a cool blue/white, Potts fork and stem, and a few other nice touches).
I picked this frame up with the intent on a strip and repaint in the Team colors, but couldn't bring myself to erase the original red paintjob....
so it ended up getting built as as...can't say I'm disappointed with the results.
Here are a few detail shots for those who enjoy that sort of thing.
cheers,
Steve
