I'm about 50 pounds lighter than I was in high school. I've shriveled.

The girl I mentioned - her husband (who died last year) was at least 400 lbs. When I met him at 30, he was probably 250-275. So I suspect their weight gains may have been a function of them being together. It makes me wonder what would have happened if she and I had ended up together - would she be thinner? Or would I be fatter? Or somewhere in between.

Probably lost a little muscle but mostly less stress eating. I don't stress out nearly as much anymore.

I'm about 25 lbs heavier than I was in High School. And I'm about 35 lbs lighter than my maximum weight.

Finally got out on the bike since the drive train changeout. Love, love, love it!
Auto synchro, auto trim, and click to change computer pages are wonderful features.
Will take a little time to acclimate to the 12-speed as there are some different ratios.

I weigh about 10 lbs over what I weighed when I was running X-C in college. I started on hydroxymethylbutyrate a week ago to try and put some weight and strength back on and I think it might be working.
In less encouraging news, I got my lactate testing results back and—no surprise—they're pretty puny. At least, I now have reliable targets and perhaps can slow the losses a bit.

I think if I retired, I'd nibble more throughout the day.

All this talk of food and I am hungry. Haven't been able to gorge as usual with the hole in my mouth. Bumped it and got it bleeding again this morning. I've chugged some Ensure. It helps but it's not a ham and cheese sandwich with tortilla chips.

EDIT: I imagine you're riding a hell of a lot more than when you were working, too, right?

Any place I worked where there was food available was a problem. Here, we have free sodas, but that's it. Sometimes vendors bring treats, but since we're an outpost with only 25 people, we don't get a lot of their attention. There used to be a sales rep for one of the larger supply houses. She was Middle Eastern. She knew a place on the Peninsula that made great baklava, and she'd always have it made with pistachios instead of walnuts, and would bring us a big tray of it. I could eat that till I explode.

Riding more since retiring but not as much as I always thought I would. Stupid irregular heartbeat and COPD are messing with me. Still, doing about 150 miles per week. I really miss the epic rides of the past. Lucky for me some of my friends are having physical issues, too, and we have formed a small sub group.

For some reason this reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode with Burgess Meridith as a very bookish sort, with really thick glasses, who survives the Nuclear Holocaust, and finds a library. He builds stacks of the books and says, "I'll read these this year, and those next year, and those the year after! Finally, enough time to read!"
Then he trips and breaks his glasses.

Also, it was fascinating to see his boss talking about his reading in the same manner as

There are A LOT of episodes. Back then you'd do 22-26 episodes a season, and there were 5 seasons. 156 episodes! Of course there's some dreck, but by and large they remain remarkably good watching. It still amazes me that the show ever got made in the first place, in the era of "Leave It To Beaver" and such.
