See you there maybe, any other members in the So Cal attending the ride this year?
It's February 8th, they have a website if anyone is interested if you don't know already!
Expected temp is 75, rode in 80+ degrees today!

Very nice Eddy.

I have since updated a few parts on mine as well (cranks, rear derailleur and saddle).

Your bikes prove that perhaps nobody nailed the two-tone theme better than Merckx and his designer.

My 58cm Century handles pretty quick for a "century" bike (a hint is in how the stem's angle points downward relative to the toptube).

It does know how to dance to the tune of fast riding.

I'll be soon trying a 1 or 1.5cm-longer stem with ~2cm wider bars, to calm it a bit.

It seems snappier, if less supple, than my identically-fitted Holdsworth Special.

It's paint is a mere solid blue, but with an extra-nice, white downtube panel:

Too bad you're on the other side of the US...

Just finished a very similar Century in Cobalto, size 57. Still need to adjust the saddle and not completely happy with the bar wrap:

Way better pix uploaded today with so many more to come with new bikes also, plus I've seen people ask to see riding shots so I've included some of those too!
I'm trying to build interesting in my town with a once a month vintage route/ride!
Pre new millennium bikes, 99' 1" head tube or older bikes preferred...

Man, sort of creeped me out there, you even have the same garage door(?)! Spooky.

And I guess you measured your frame center-to-center? Mine is 58.3cm Center-to-top, and sure doesn't look even a hair larger than yours.

Beautiful bikes but it may be some kind of sin to wear a Postal Service Jersey on that beautiful Merckx. Motorola yes - Postal no.

I have that jersey too, actually 2 of them, one signed by the general himself!
I will get a pic with that one on soon so stay tuned!
As I stated earlier in this forum this build is a tribute build to what I think postal should of still been riding in the new era of Plastic frames...
I must be sitting on sin too!

These are the PO's pics but I bought it as you see it minus the saddle and pedals.
I am SUPER STOKED and will be waiting for FedEx like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Nice, one of my fave EM team bikes!! I like the PO's build also, looks tough with the dark wheels and deep Cinelli drops.

I saw Eddy on the podium of today's women's tour of Qatar and he doesn't look good. He's as large as he's ever been.

Funny you should ask that....

As far as Merckx, I bought a set of crank arms yesterday from a guy in Chapel Hill. He asked me if I liked Merckx bikes, and I said I had "a couple," not really wanting to say steel and get "that look," or saying modern and run the slight risk he is a steel classic guy. I kind of walked around the subject, which is the Southern way of conversing, and we realized we both knew BF member norskagent. I mentioned that norskagent had at least one beautiful classic steel Merckx, and I had an '85. The ice was immediately broken, as he's the seller of the '87 Corsa that's on our local CL. The pictures don't do it justice, and it's a beauty. The photos tend to magnify the scratches, etc. We talked for a few more minutes, and he also has one of the first years of the Merckx brand, made by Falcon, with black original DA. He's willing to sell one or the other, so I asked for more pictures.

This is the one still for sale, and I can facilitate. If you're interested in the Falcon Merckx, I can facilitate that as well, once I get pics.

1987 Eddy Merckx Corsa - $1000 (Chapel Hill)

(Please mention the specific item in your reply & include phone, or risk being ignored.)

Eddy Merckx Corsa: s/n translates to likely '87 and Chorus began in '87, so right about there I guess. Frame is Columbus SL, 55 ST x 55.5 TT (c-t-c), 126mm spacing, and in ridiculously nice shape internally. Lemon yellow w/black. Chrome is nearly perfect, decals (save the SL) are clean, but the paint has some nicks...worst under the seat-cluster from a frame-mount pump, some discoloration at TT cable guides (not rust...brazing side-effect?), most (clumsily) touched up & no rust, looks fine from 5ft. Gold border on the downtube decal is *hot*. Please see the pics.

1st gen Chorus: monoplanar calipers, brake levers, DT shifters (Syncro 1, 6s), crankset (170, 52/42), hubs (126mm freewheel), headset (possibly Record...drilled), BB (70-SS), seatpost. Cinelli Solido ergo bars (minor clamp marks from aero bars) w/Salsa steel stem, bad-ass old-school chrome-steel rail Concor saddle (a couple scuffs), and some bomber wheels: 36h Mavic MA3 clinchers w/14g, Regina Extra 13-23 6s, Vittoria Open Corsa rubber (new 23mm front, just starting to square 25mm rear). No pedals.

OCD overhaul (like disassembled calipers) and clean, clean, clean. Phil + Campy = cup/cone butter! Crankset is gorgeous, derailleurs barely less, minor brake lever scratches w/worn (but original!) hoods! Cables left a little long so the next owner can dial it in.

103 miles in 5 1/2 hours with 3 SAG stops, 7000+ calories burned!
We lost one of our own on the ride this year, A 55 year old women, La Vonne Koester.
First time ever and it's causing all kinds of controversy cause she allegedly ran a stop sign!
I rode that section before the accident and honestly that was the only section that had no Law Enforcement with many 2 way stops where only the cross traffic gets the right away !
Very sad regardless, my prayers go out to La Vonne and her family.
R.I.P.
