Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As you continue your determined journey towards being deceased or divorced in the near future, keep in mind that with one of them, the pain eventually ends.

They kept asking me in the ER how many I’d had in the past and which side but I’d lost track over the years. I seem to break ribs easily.

Anyway, Doc, I’m breathing easy enough and I can’t feel any displacement so I’m not going to the doctor unless things get worse. Probably just bruised.

I’m alive, and well. Thanks for your concern. She didn’t kill me, but i’m convinced she did something to the emonda a bottom bracket to make it creak.

I hate creaks. Creakmonda. sigh.

I think this is why I stopped at the Litespeed - I couldn't think of another kind of bike that I both wanted, and could afford.
My Chinerelo was $265.00 delivered. My FM 28 was also under $300.00. I'd still be riding that one if the seat mast was usable. Stiff, light, fast. Hard to beat that for 300 hunerd but.

I’m seething today. In my divorce agreement with my ex, it states that we will come together and compromise / agree on major decisions regarding our kids. Two days ago, she texts me that she got our oldest a iPhone and will be giving it to her. I tell her I’d like to discuss before she gives it, she tells me she was just letting me know as a courtesy and that if I want to contact my kid on it, I can pay for half.

I ask her yesterday when she can talk on Saturday- she says any time. I assume that means she is going to hold off on the phone. I assumed wrong.

I’m not even against the phone, what I am against is the continuous ignoring of our agreement when it suits her needs because she feels I can’t take any action (or won’t). What I think is the best course of action would be to get a separate mobile account that is not attached to either my family plan or my ex’s where we both have full access. This way we can both monitor communications and calls and activity.

Now I’m paying $200 bucks for my attorney to send her a threatening letter. I’ve tried to get her to compromise and be a good co-parent and her behavior just isn’t changing. At this point, I’m willing to spend tens of thousands on attorney fees if I have to if the end result is she gets ****ed over. I’m over this nonsense.

The ******** part is that she can selectively ignore parts of the settlement, but if I’m a day late on support, it’s the end of the world.

Part of me wants to know hold back support until she complies, but since I’m a dad and not a mom and the courts are inherently biased against me, I’ll get screwed.

Ugh, sorry to hear this. I know it's complicated whether an iPhone is a "major" decision but I hope you can come to an understanding.

FWIW we did not allow our kids to get smartphones until they were 16 or 17. Before then, it was a "dumb phone" for emergency phone calls only. They told us they were the only kids in their school with old-fashioned phones.

You have my sympathy. I'm lucky there were no children involved when my ex left. The rest of the whole thing was just wrong.

Talk to your lawyer, but this one would caution you against doing that.

Custody stuff sucks. Sorry you are having to go through this.

Phrantic, this is the reason why the show dateline exist. Some men can’t handle this.

Actually, Amelia already has an iphone. No data plan, and no wifi. It’s more of her just to play with and pretend. She’s obsessed with the calculator.

This is the part that I just do not understand in phrantic's post: that if I want to contact my kid on it, I can pay for half.

If the kid has a phone, dad should be able to call them on it regardless of who pays for the phone or service.

you’re kidding!! i hope ?!?

i’ve been eyeing one for a while to replace a much loved but hardly driven s2k. the cayman is probably the best looking, best balanced car of the 21st century in my very humble opinion. at 95k ish (GTS 4 with few options) it’s not exactly a bargain but i tend to keep cars a long time.

I would bet a medium amount of money that your opinion on this will change. For us, having a phone in middle school made sense for both of my kids. Helping them understand appropriate use, and close monitoring of their activity, was a big part of it.

Not kidding. It had the PCCBs on it which were never going to need replacing during my ownership. They are supposed to be good for 100k miles. Incredible brakes on an incredible car. Wish I still had it.

Highly recommend the car.
