So I am scheduled to start a tour from northern Vermont home to Philly next month. Train up to St. Albans on 9/11. Relatively short ride the next (35 miles) day to Burlington for two nights. Former colleague and friend of mine and his wife have a place in town and apparently have bought a sailboat. Dude wrote me that I have to come sailing on Lake Champlain.
I have actually never been on a sailboat, so I might have to take him up on the offer.

Heh. I have to watch that film again. I didn't like it when I originally saw it back in the 90s.
I don't think I been in anything other than a canoe in a slow water since '96, when we dumped my dad's ashes in the Atlantic just outside the breakers off Longport, NJ. I tend to get sea sick when the boat stops and starts rocking. That morning was no exception, although I did not blow chunks. I was fine once we started moving again.

In its present form, it's not sustainable. There are few enough on the road right now that it's acceptable to the folks that own them. As the fleet grows, the strain will become more apparent, both in precious goods, and on the grid itself. Battery technology must improve in a huge way before they become mainstream. As mentioned above, and in most EV households, there's a gasser back up.

Don't tell that to the 76 station where I usually fill up.

I'd buy one, but I'm put off by the current (haha) prices.

You'll have more sailing time this autumn than LesterOfPuppets or Mojo31 .

Now sailing, sailing is stupid.

I always used that in my race bikes. I felt special using that white pump in the middle. Also cleaned all my air filters in a bowl with it. Who knows what it did to my brain.

The good thing is that you don't need to know how to swim to learn to sail. I'm walking proof of that as I suck at swimming.
I agree though, that sailing is only for the enlightened. If you think it's stupid, simply stay away. Us sailors equate you with the skaters, dog walkers and stroller pushers on the MUP.
