So I HTFU and did the Mt Baldy ride. I started early so they would catch me on the way up but they had trouble and didn't start climbing until later. The two fastest climbers still caught me with several miles to go. Lots of other riders up there, hundreds, maybe. I chatted with strangers as they passed me or even when I passed a few of them. Two guys rode up behind me and one of them was, in English, teaching the other one how to translate Spanish into Tagalog. I threw out some Spanish cuss words and they laughed.
We rode to the lodge/cafe and I had fries and 2 Cokes. They're good to us there, they installed a water bottle station out front and they fill a large cooler with ice. The waitresses are quick to refill drinks and they act happy to see us.

Fun fact: Springsteen allegedly wrote “Hungry Heart” for the Ramones. Not sure why they did not record it.

One regret I have from my last visit to your area is that I did not ride up Mt Baldy. I did Mt Wilson, which was not bad. There was slush and some patches of ice near the top. Maybe next time, although for our next visit mrs datlas is suggesting we stay in Santa Monica which means my rides will be in the canyons north of Malibu.

Ride with gps says the route is 42 miles with 5600 feet of gain. I think that's a little short on miles and high on climbing. I didn't bring my camera because I had an extra bottle and snacks. I found some stock pics. It was really nice today but I'm wiped out.

Watching the Braves at the Tribe and someone in the stands had a Pat Tillman ASU jersey on. Thought I was watching an Arizona game for a minute.

Just goofing around with emojis. A couple months ago I pasted one into a reply box and I expected it to turn into a blank box upon posting but as Gomer Pyle liked to say "Surprise, surprise, surprise." So of course I had to change my sig immediately
