You don't have to be good,
You can cry all day
You can be really rotten
Cuz Santa Claus skips Cudahy
Don't try to please Santa
Just act like a louse
When he finds out you live in Cudahy
He'll fly right past your house
Chomping on tarts
Topping the charts
Santa's on his way
Just be thankful next Thanksgiving
You weren't born in Cudahy
God Bless Jay Tiller

Looks like you all got this one covered.
I knew Eric's bought out the Grafton bike shop, didn't know about Rainbow as well. If W&S is the 800# gorilla then Eric's has to be up to 500# stature at least since they seem to be appearing everywhere (Milwaukee, Grafton, Shorewood, Greenfield, elsewhere?).

The Harley Davidson Museum, The Milwaukee Art Museum on the lakeshore which in itself is a work of art. Go to Culvers for a hamburger and thier custard flavor of the day (because it changes every day). Of course Kopp's frozen custard flavors change every day too so you have a decision to make there. The Mitchell Park Domes would also be a garden oasis this time of year.

Back in the early 80's all the music venues were all free at Summerfest. I don't even remember if we paid for any general admission to the festival back then.........I remember seeing all kinds of top performers for free! Jazz, Rock Pop, you name it. Those were the good ole days of Summerfest.

Late 80s it was also free, even the grass seats in the amphitheater. It would fill up so I would arrive at 11am, get a stamp but you couldn't leave the grounds until 3. Weird rules but it made for a good all-day bing.

Just a hole in the wall, tiny as heck, darkly lit bike shop, but they (he) sold the bikes I wanted back then...Peugeots and Falcons.....And they were kind of responsible on getting me started on "serious" cycling when my brother and I bought our first Peugeots from them (a P8 and a PH10S).
I still remember continuously bugging the guy on the phone and visits to his shop when the new Peugeots were coming for me to look at...."Two Weeks" was always his answer , even when it was really 2 to 6 months....

Summerfest has always required a ticket to get in but I remember late 70's early 80's the grounds weren't exactly secure. I snuck around and over fences many times. All the stages are still free with mostly national acts for the price of admission except for the Marcus Amphitheater which has no free seats anymore. It's still a good deal with all kinds of ways to get reduced admission. One of our contractors is their plumber and our church festival beer distributor (I run the beer tent) services it so getting free tickets isn't an issue for me.
Parking sucks so I always take a bike on the car and park a few miles away and ride down where they have free bike parking near the gates. fenced but not monitored.

I paid to get in?
I suppose so, the memory is shot. Maybe that was the 3 oclock thing, you could get a hand stamp to get back in without paying again. I think.
dedhed, does the Park East still have that rooftop bar?

Made quite a few caravans to Summerfest. A superb venue. Could we actually call it 'in the old daiz'? Anyways, during those humid hot days, never failed to meet some hotties and they'd rub the backs of their hand stamp onto our sweaty hands, transferring free admission traded in return for Miller's. One time, on a late night return to my bud's van, bad ole' bad karma hit and it was broken into.
