Can I use 700x23 tube in a 700x25 tire?

Also, IIRC Gatorskins usually run on the narrow side for a 25mm tire, so there should be even less concern that you overstretched the tube.

Thanks for the responses. I probably did pinch the tube between the bead and rim as I was wrestling it on. I'll chalk it up as user error and try to exchange the tire for a new one at performance.

Wait -- is the tire itself damaged? Perhaps it was defective, or damaged during installation.

The tire did get damaged. The sidewalk blew out just as I was about to put the presta valve nut on. That's why I revived this thread to see if using an undersized tube will cause such a thing.
