I tend to look at the year-over-year changes.

So. Mixing the 50 Open, the 60 Open and the 70 Open is crazy. I'm not sure what the answer is, but racing with 50 year old past Tour and Giro racers, is hard. The 70 years old were chicanes, the 50 year olds caught us, then we mixed in. They didn't want us there, but we had to integrate, otherwise our field would be divided. There were teams that had racers in both the 50's and 60's that would work together, which made it tough for singletons like myself. So, I got to race with angry fast kids, with good team tactics. I'm happy I hung in there, but things need to change.

Finished my club-mate’s
ride. He invited six of his friends to do the ride with him to celebrate, but he extended the invite to a small group of us as well. So we had the bday boy, HIS six friends (who I had not met before), and five of us who went along too. It turns out his friends are serious cyclists and kept gapping/dropping the birthday boy. We would regroup periodically. But about 15 miles from the end, they all took off and left him for dead. I and my 4 friends stayed back with the birthday/ride leader and stayed with him until the end.
I don’t know if it’s ironic or just “tough love,” but if I invited a bunch of friends to my ride and they dropped me like that, I would be kinda pissed.
Thoughts??

I've been painting the interior of the house for the past week. One liter per day, and a 2.5" brush. Judging by how my body feels in the morning, it must be hard work. Made for this hot, humid weather though. I can work in my skivvies, and barefoot.

Front derailleur.
I haven't done a group ride in ages . . . but is it really that difficult to take a minute or two before the ride starts and and get everyone on the same page on the regrouping policy?

Shift all the way down, loosen the pinch bolt, reset the cable in its slot, pull the cable taught, and re-tighten the pinch bolt. Easy peasy.
