Tuesday ride leader invited a friend who he usually doesn't invite because the guy is fast and rides off the front and gets lost. He's been off the bike due to injury so we figured he would stay with the group. First thing he got lost on the way to the start. After some time on the phone with another friend, he found us. A few miles into the ride he rides off the front and misses a turn. He heard us yelling and caught up after turning around. First long grade he drops all of us and starts turning on the wrong street. Luckily he looked back to see us gesturing to go straight.
Clearly he is still faster than any of us on climbs so whatever time he was off the bike didn't slow him much. He was able to stay with us through the rest of the ride but it took a lot of effort to not take off. I've watched him before and he just gets into a zone when he rides. Puts his head down and shuts out the world. Anyway it was good to see him riding again and looking so strong.
It was about 100 degrees when we finished. They cut out some the climbs but I would have been ok with doing the extra up.

I literally only work 7 days in Sept. I reached out to a couple of different groups about going back to the blue ridge for a day. Told them I was finally available. So far both groups have picked the days that I have to work.
Do I smell funny?

Had some nice after work groups years ago. Really looked forward to those while at the job. This Tuesday ride was started by a friend after I retired. He retired years before I did when he was 48, I think. He wanted to try and help me get some speed and endurance back after the trauma of working was over. The two of us would just cruise and chat. Of course, as others joined in the speed crept up.

Maybe when you contact them you should ask if they are available for the dates when you want to go. Blue Ridge always sounds amazing.

I think it is. Maybe for like indoor-only events or something. These wheels were ridden an on outdoor track only, and have grease. I never services them, but they still roll buttery smooth. The DA track hubs are the best.

Don't let big movie make you see the big lebowski. Adhere to your independent spirit and flip them the bird. I've never seen it and I'm doing just fine.
