I built this up with what I had sitting around in the basement the past few days. The frame's an old Nishiki, and and this is the first time I've tried promenade style bars - these were leftovers from an early '70s Schwinn Racer. I like them more than I thought I would, and am really surprised with how fun the bike is.

My good friend, Seth Snyder is loaning me a frame for this upcoming season at the track!!! We went out for a little shakedown ride today. Straight gauge oversized chromoly tubing, this thing is STIFF! But it still rides much better than my FTP which is great considering the Dick Lane Velodrome is less than smooth.

Not right now, lol - I'm too happy with it. But I have been known to grow bored with things quickly, so maybe it'll be up for grabs in a few months.

Yeah, it is a bit ridiculous - it's probably too big for me, but it was only $10. I can live with it for that price!

Yeah, I dig the Wabi. The radial lacing not so much.

Wabi looks good. Interesting bar angle for compact drops though

I thought having the bars level with the ground is customary? I think the hoods could be a little lower though, but nice bike

Probably rotate the bars forward a little and move the hoods down to get a flatter profile on the hoods. That's how I had mines.

Yeah, it's different with compact drops. You want the bar end more level with the ground, which is supposed to create a flat transition to the hoods. Problem is, if you've got it setup that way now and it's comfortable, you might find yourself way too stretched out without a shorter stem if you "fix" it.

Really it's whatever's comfortable for you, but you will find if you rotate the brake levers down you'll be able to grab them from more hand positions.

Glad everyone digs the wabi, I'm certainly in love. I played around with the lever position for a little while before I taped the bars. They're nearly in the exact same position as they were on the Russian, only I ended up raising them about 1/8", which seemed to be my ideal.

I've had others, but here's what's currently in my stable. Each holds a special place in my heart...
