I see now that the '06 Tarmac had it too. I didn't notice it before.
The are several manufacturers now that have curved top tubes. I read a while back that the benefit of the curved tube is to minimize the compact geometry look while still effectively having compact geometry. It works for me.

my current ride is a 2005 bianchi eros - not too fancy, but good enough for centuries, commuting, and monthly critical mass. my first road bike, an 80's miyata (blue frame with pink/white/green art-deco decals!), has been converted to a fixed gear.
and damn does it feel good to pass somebody riding an unobtanium bike that costs twice as much as mine!!
steel is real.

Hey, not sure if you've built that up yet, but i saw a fella riding his slc with the zipp wheels and crank around pp. We rode for a bit and i got to admire his bike. By any chance might that have been you? If not, i suppose iI get to admire your bike now.
