Help identify this bike please.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm new. Like this bike on CL but don't know what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums! If you want more info on the bike it would be best to submit a new thread on the Classics & Vintage main page. Just click the blue button on the left, above the list of current threads, and submit your question and link of the bike. Information should come in pretty quickly.

All that I can gather is that it looks like a 58cm Touring frame with DA Cranks, Brooks Saddle. Cranks certainly are Dura Ace, but photos are too grainy to tell much about the other parts and the frame maker...Dura Ace components are great.

With those plate rear dropouts I have my doubts about the "custom" nature of the frame. Nice first-gen black Dura-Ace/Crane stuff, but not worth the $, IMO.

My size and only a 4 hour drive. But I can't justify it:

It's hard to be sure, but it looks Japanese. The Dura Ace drivetrain dates from the mid-70's. The pedals look to be early 80s SunTour Superbe Pro. The equipment seems to be top of the line stuff even if the frame turns out to be a disappointment.

Haven't been able to find any info on 'Bombieri' as of yet. Guy's been trying to sell it for a few months now, I'd consider trying to talk him down even more if the bike were my size.

Campagnolo Components w/ Italian Lugged Frame - $225 (Kihei)

Date: 2010-06-28, 4:35PM HST
Reply to: sale-faxtk-1816486229@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

This is the second posting for this. Since then, I found this line of components were first manufactured in 1987.
The components are 1st generation Campagnolo "Chorus".
The bike was purchased for around $1200.
The bicycle was abandoned in a garage until the tires rotted. Campy rubber brake hoods still great!
Rims are Campy Tubulars; Epsilon Strada G-25's.
Hubs, headset, Cranks, Brakes, Seatpost, Pedals, Brake and Shifter Levers, Gears, and Derailers, are Campagnolo.
Light rust has been cleaned off, still some detail work needs to be done. No eruptions, just superficial.
The frame is a circa late 80's Bombieri. Very Rare. You try to find!
Paint is in a very cosmetically worn condition! But frame is integral!
Front forks and Chain and Seat stays were heavy chrome.
As you can see, No tires, rear brake cable is incomplete.
Remember to take into account, these wheels take tubular "sew-ups" tires!
This bicycle is being sold AS-IS to the first $225.cash that ends up in my hands.
Other Islands besides Maui? We need shipping and handling charges.

Thanks for the response John. I contacted the owner, says it's a Raleigh frame, didn't specify which, with braze ons added, thus the custom aspect.

Could be, but I doubt it. You can see direct lines of focus on the larger plane, and then another section of blur. Lensbaby has no way of doing that. Either way, it's annoying and unnecessary for a classified / sales picture.
